The Hokkien Prawn Mee and the stall, Kedai Kopi Swee Kong, is on the Burma Road on the corner of Solok Moulmein and is directly opposite the Pulau Tikus police station. By public transport you can get to it either by taxi or by bus, the Rapid Penang 101 stopping directly outside the stalls. Now the only snag with this place is that it is VERY popular AND it stops serving at around 8:30 9:00 am as they start at around 6:30.

4. Air Itam Market (Near Kek Lok Si buddhist temple)As with most markets, Air Itam Market has plenty of hawker stalls selling food. The most famous is the Ayer Itam Laksa, located in front of the market building. There are several more laksa stalls at the foot of the hill going up to Kek Lok Si, and they are just as good.Come here around 10.45am as the uncle starts cooking at 11. At 10.50, there was already a lack of seats to sit. Hordes of people will start lining up for the food. Most of them are usually out-of-towners.

6. The Best Char Koay Teow Stalls in PenangA. Tiger Char Koay Teow, Carnavon Street, Georgetown, Penang.Along the ubiquitous food street- Carnavon Street, there is this infamous Char Koay Teow stall- Tiger Char Koay Teow, named after the owner "Ah Hor/ Tiger in Hokkien". It can be found in a coffee shop known as Ping Hooi Coffee Shop, sitting at the junction to Carnavon Street and Lebuh Melayu.

Prawn lovers will be weak in the knees, 6 huge, plump and juicy Prawns were topped on the adequately stir fried Koay Teow. The magical mix of Flat Rice Noodles/ Koay Teow that possessed the standard "Wok Hei"; airy and fluffy texture for the Egg as well as refreshing crunch of Chives and Sprouts.

B.Excellent CafExcellent Cafe is a coffee shop in Ayer Itam, Penang. It is located along the AIR Itam Road, near the Air Itam Roundabout. The coffee shop has a popular and incredibly expensive Char Koay Teow, where a plate costs between RM6.00 and RM6.50 (as of Sept 2012).

C.Lorong Selamat Char Koay Teow (The mpst famous)Kafe Heng Huat at Lorong Selamat, Georgetown, where one of the best and most delicious char koay teow in Penang can be found.

This aunty is probably the most famous Penangite in Penang.

The stall is in front of Kafe Heng Huat.

The hawker auntie manning the stall is as famous as the char koay teow itself. Always wearing a red beret, sometimes with goggles over her eyes, her alleged arrogance and temperamental responses towards customers' complaints about high prices and long waiting time has earned her quite a notorious reputation among the locals. A Facebook campaign was even set up to encourage people to boycott her stall. Wah, so controversial!
