1.0 GENERAL

This technical specification applies only to Las Bambas Project of Xstrata Tintaya S.A.

and establishes the quality of materials and workmanship; additionally defines howquality is measured for furnishing, fabricating and delivering structural steel andmiscellaneous metal for structures.

This specification is must be used in conjunction with the latest revision of the GeneralSpecification for Supply of Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal N 3SS-SS00-00001.

2.0 ABBREVIATIONS

Additionally to abbreviations listed on section 2.0 of General Specification for Supply of

Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal N 3SS-SS00-00001, add the following:NTP Norma Tcnica Peruana.

RNE Reglamento Nacional de Edificaciones, Ministerio de la Vivienda, Per.

OSHA Occupational Safety & Health Administration.

3.0 CODES AND STANDARDS

It shall apply the codes, standards and specifications, listed on section 3.0 of GeneralSpecification for Supply of Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal N 3SS-SS00-00001.

In case of differences between the different codes, the most demanding shall govern.

Additionally, consider the following codes and standards:

4.0 MATERIALS

The materials shall comply with the requirements specified in Section 4.0 of the GeneralSpecification for Supply of Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal N 3SS-SS00-00001.

Additionally, consider the following requirements:

Grating shall be of steel welded with rectangular opening and electro forged joints.Will be of type indicated in design drawings and/or TEKLA models and shall beaccording to ANSI/NAAMM MBG 531 and 532 for heavy duty. Grating for stair treadsshall have flat plate nosing with step cover nonskid. Fastening of grating shall be withHILTI standard X-FCM grating disk and EM8 threaded studs, or equal approvedsystem.

The following substitutions will be acceptable for the projects structural steel:

Shear connectors for composite slabs shall be HILTI X-HVB or equivalent installedin accordance to indications of the manufacturer.

5.0 CONNECTIONS

Connections shall comply with the requirements specified in Section 5.0 of the GeneralSpecification for Supply of Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal N 3SS-SS00-00001.

6.0 HIGH - STRENGTH BOLTING

It shall comply with the requirements specified in Section 6.0 of the GeneralSpecification for Supply of Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal N 3SS-SS00-

00001.

Additionally, consider the following requirement:

The bolts, nuts, and washer shall be galvanized, in accordance with StandardSpecification ASTM F1852.

7.0 WELDING

The process of welding shall comply with the requirements specified in Section 7.0 of theGeneral Specification for Supply of Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal N 3SS-SS00-00001

8.0 FABRICATION

The process of fabrication shall comply with the requirements specified in Section 8.0 ofthe General Specification for Supply of Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal N3SS-SS00-00001.


Holes shall be provided to suit future work and equipment mounting, where shown.

9.0 SHOP AND ERECTION DETAIL DRAWINGS

Models and drawings shall be prepared using Technical Specification 25635-220-3PS-SS01-00002 for Work Process for Detailing Structural Steel.

10.0 PAINTING AND GALVANIZING

It shall comply with the requirements specified in Section 10.0 of the General

Specification for Supply of Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal N 3SS-SS00-00001.

Painting of structural steel shall be class A-2 in accordance with the TechnicalSpecification 25635-220-3PS-NX00-00001 for Shop Priming and Painting.

Finish painting colors shall be in accordance with Especificacin Tcnica para Cartade Colores para Arquitectura Proyecto Las Bambas, 25635-220-3PS-AFPP-00001

No paint areas shall be noted on the fabrication drawings

11.0 MARKING AND COLOR CODING

Prior to shipment, all pieces shall be piece marked by stamping and substantialtagging. Piece marks shall be referenced to marks shown on erection drawingsand/or TEKLA models. On long members, piece marks shall be repeated at bothends and also at approximately 6 meter intervals. In addition, all pieces shall have abarcode label sticker permanently adhered and resistant to weather and handlingconditions of the piece.

Piece marks and barcode labels will be establish as per Technical Specification25635-220-3PS-SS01-00002 for Work Process for Detailing Structural Steel.

12.0 SHOP INSPECTION AND TESTING

It shall comply with the requirements specified in Section 12.0 of the GeneralSpecification for Supply of Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal N 3SS-SS00-00001.


Charpy V-Notch (CVN) testing shall be performed in accordance with the standardprotocol put forth by both AISC 360-05 (including but not limited to A3.1c, A3.1d, andJ2.6) and AISC 341-05 (including but not limited to section 6.3).

13.0 PROGRESS MONITORING AND REPORTING

It shall comply with the requirements specified in Section 13.0 of the GeneralSpecification for Supply of Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal N 3SS-SS00-00001.
