Tickets are $40 each, and a portion of all proceeds will benefit the Food Bank For New York City. Besides learning the who, what, where when and why of olive oil, participants will sample nine of the lecturers’ favorite oils in triads served with felicitous ingredients in order to taste each one within no uncertain context, exactly the way olive oil is meant to be tasted. All aspects of the creation will be discussed and wines will also be offered to accompany the samplings. Jenkins, who is considered one of the world’s most respected and knowledgeable cheese specialists, has also earned the same reputation for his expertise on olive oil. He offers more than 100 different varieties on the shelves of Fairway Market and has been foraging the groves of the Mediterranean basin consumed by his quest for the finest olives and oils for many years. Tony DeMarco, who has long worked with Jenkins, sourcing and expediting olive oils of extraordinary quality, will also share his extensive experience and passion on the subject.
