Everything you need – fromsimple to complex

The Sinteso™ fire detection system wasdeveloped using decades of our experi-ence in fire protection. With the newSinteso control panels FC2020, FC2040and FC2060, a comprehensive andhomogeneous system is available in combination with the Sinteso firedetectors.

The characteristic feature of the Sintesofamily is its flexibility to meet anyrequirement. For example, up to twoloops can be connected to an FC2020control panel, and up to four loops to anFC2040, with a comprehensive range ofFDnet devices for every task. At themanagement level, connection to a dan-ger management system is possible viathe BACnet standard interface.

The result is a comprehensive firedetection system on a shared technol-ogy platform with provision for simple,open-ended expansion in the future.

Whether small and compact or modular and customiz-able, Sinteso™ control panels are the heart of the sys-tem. They process all messages generated by the sys-tem, and trigger alarm signals and complex controlprocesses. The extremely simple user interface withuser prompting lets you check the system statusquickly, either locally or by remote access. Sincerequirements vary depending on the building andapplication, different control panels are available fordifferent areas of application.

When it comes to reliable detection,rapid signaling and correct reaction,Sinteso sets the standards in all three of these areas.

At the field level, for example, Sintesouses state-of-the-art fire detectors, andASAtechnology™ guarantees againstfalse alarms. Fast, fault-tolerant networktechnology ensures a very high level of security in communication betweenFDnet devices and the control panel.

The control panels allow simple, intu-itive operation, plain text displays andunambiguous instructions – all of which reduce your stress in the event of an alarm.

Supporting all your needs –from risk analysis to service

We start by developing the optimumsolution – both technically and econom-ically – to match the individual risk profile of the building or system. Weinclude everything from operator train-ing to service and modernization.

Efficiency – throughout theentire life cycle

Economy with Sinteso starts right from the installation phase, whether it involves the simple installation ofdetectors or automatic configuration of the fire control panel. Moreover, thestandard user interface of all controlunits results in shorter training times for operating personnel.

Efficiency is also a key factor in theoperating phase. For example, theFDnet-powered devices such as floorrepeater terminals require no additionalcabling for power supply. We can alsoprovide remote access to the controlpanels for quick and simple support for

system operation. This is very useful, forexample, when fire detection zones needto be reconnected after building renova-tion work.

Safety that goes further –throughout your building

All Sinteso control panels can be net-worked with a danger management sys-tem. This can be used for monitoring and control of security systems, such asfire detection, intrusion, access and CCTVsurveillance systems. Security serviceand reception personnel can keep awatchful eye on everything from a con-trol room.

The standard method of networking is via Ethernet using the BACnet communi-cations protocol, an ideal foundation forintegration of the control panels into aSiemens danger management system.

Requirements for fire detection technology depend on the size and scale of the building. As a result,requirements for the fire control panels also varydepending on the area of use. To ensure that the right control panel is always available to suit the various applications, Sinteso™ offers different FCnetstations that can be networked with one another.

FC2020 – the control panel for small-scale applications

The design of the FC2020 fire controlpanel is extremely small and compact.Up to two Sinteso™ loops or four stubscan be connected to accommodate amaximum of 252 FDnet devices such asfire detectors, alarms or floor repeaterdisplays. Via FCnet, the FC2020 can alsobe networked with Sinteso control pan-els that are of the same design or morepowerful. The FC2020 is particularlysuitable for the following applications:

• small hotels• workshops• banks and branch post offices• museums• small-scale industrial operations• retirement and nursing homes• schools

FC2040 – the control panel formedium-sized applications

The FC2040 fire control panel is theright choice for medium-sized areas of use. It can be connected to up to four Sinteso loops or eight stubs, thus accommodating up to 504 FDnetdevices. This provides a good foundationfor protecting medium-sized buildings.Since the FC2040 can be networked, itcan also be used for monitoring exten-sive building complexes. Some examplesof practical applications:

• medium-sized industrial operations• office and administrative buildings• shopping centers• medium-sized hospitals• hotel complexes• university campuses

FT2040 – the fire terminal for remote operation

The FT2040 fire terminal supplementsthe fire control panels, mirroring the displays and functions of the controlpanels with which it is networked. Itthus allows the same system operationas the control panels, which is practicalfor adding further operating terminalssome distance away from the controlpanels, for example in the security mon-itoring room or reception area. Thisenables the personnel to react morequickly to faults and alarms, from theirown workstations, without having to goto the control panel.

Networking of control panelsand terminals

The different control panels and the fireterminal can be networked with eachother to protect large building com-plexes as well as to extend the firedetection system to extensions and fac-tory buildings that are added later. Up to 16 fire control panels or fire terminalscan be linked with each other via FCnet.The distance between two stations canbe up to 1,000 m, or even considerablymore if fiber-optic cables and networkrepeaters are used. Moreover, the FCnetcan be expanded further via the Ether-net connection of the control panels tocreate heterogeneous networks.

Automatic configuration of the control panels

The autoconfiguration function for thecontrol panels also simplifies start-up.Moreover, the control panel reads indata from all the devices in the FDnet,so that fire detection is possible even inthe construction phase, e. g. for partialareas that need protecting from an earlystage.

Simple operation –quickly and easy access to all functions.

Dangerous situations are stressful situations. But theydemand the right response, quickly. To ensure thatthis happens, safety technology must be easy tounderstand and intuitive to operate. With fire controlpanels, it must be possible to see at a glance whichoperating steps are required. Furthermore the controlpanels must support the responsible operators by pro-viding them with further instructions.

Standardized operating concept that is easy to learn

All FCnet stations follow a standardizedoperating concept. They are also basedon the same hardware and softwareplatform, which means greater operat-ing safety with less training.

Different user profiles withindividual rights

To allow individual modifications for situations involving several users, differ-ent access rights can be defined for different user profiles as stipulated in standard EN54.

Intuitive operation – reliablereaction

The operation of all FCnet stations issimple, ergonomic and self-explanatory,thanks to a logical, menu-driven userinterface. Interactive, dialog-based pro-cedures ensure ease of use. Standardkeys are available for the ”Acknowledge”,”Reset” and ”Silence buzzer” functions,allowing users to scroll easily and con-veniently through message lists. In thisway, alarms can be quickly and easilyswitched off at the control panels.Furthermore, operating modes can alsobe changed, and the location of eventspositively identified.

In the event of an alarm, interventiontexts with instructions make it easier toinstigate the correct reaction.

Improved safety throughremote control

The control panels can be accessed viaEthernet and a standard PC using the PC software SintesoView for remote system operation. You can display mes-sages, alerts or alarms on your PC. Youcan also use the PC to check system status and open fire doors, view pastevents and switch fire breaks back onafter construction work.

The functionality of the PC softwareSintesoView corresponds exactly to theoperating of the control panels. Formaximum possible safety, remote opera-tion must always be enabled locally.

The Ethernet performs the function of arouter. The connection is handledthrough a single control panel that isconfigured as the central access point.
