    44 Reports

Lightning occurs in hot, wet storms. Moist air is driven

up to a great height. It forms a type of cloud called cumulo

nimbus. When the cloud rises high enough, the moisture

freezes. And then ice crystals and snowflakes are formed.

These begin to fall, turning to rain on the way down. This

rain meets more moist air rising, and it is the friction

between them which produces static electricity. When

a cloud is fully charged with this electricity, it discharges it

    as a lightning flash.(Ujian Nasional 2009/2010)

Most people don’t notice that giraffes have different

Other species have spots that are kind of blotchy. This

Forests are areas that are full of trees. We can find them

in the islands of Indonesia. They spread along the island of

Sumatera, Java, Kalimantan, Irian and other islands in

Indonesia. They are very important for our lives.

Forests give us many kinds of export commodities suchas timber, rattans, as well as rubber. Forests also protect us

from danger of floods. In the rainy season the roots of the trees

in the forests absorb the rain water and store it under the

ground. In the dry season the water will come out, and it is

very useful for us for reservoir and irrigation. If there are no

forests, the rain water cannot be stored, there will be erosion of

the soil, and we will suffer from terrible floods.

Forests also help us to purify the air pollution. The trees

of the forests need carbon dioxide from the air and send the

oxygen out into the air, which make the air fresh and pure.

The fresh and pure air is needed for our health.

We can also find many kinds of fauna and flora in the

forests. Animals and plants need forests to live. To ensure

the continued existence of the animals and plants in the

forests, we have to protect them from destruction. Realizing

that the forest gives us a lot of important things, we shouldkeep our forests safe. Our forests are our environments.

Why do We Need to Eat?

All the cells of our body work hard, constantly beingrenewed to make up our tissues, our bones, blood, etc. To beable to work, the cells need a special type of sugar, calledglucose, which is brought to them through the blood.

The blood gets glucose from the liver which gives out its

supply very, very slowly, wherever it is needed. In turn, the liver gets blood through an artery and a vein. The artery brings the liver the blood which gives it the

energy to work, and the vein brings it enriched blood from thesmall intestine, where, as a result of everything we eat, digestion is finally completed.

So from all the food that we eat, the liver stores glucoseuntil it is needed in whatever part of the body. Whatever part of the food not needed after digestion is either filtered out by thekidneys or passes into the large intestine, ready to be emptied bythe body.Source: Maureen Spurgeon (Trans), 366 Questions & Answers, England, BrownWatson, 1993.
