During Holy Week, we sometimes skip to the last chapter of the Easter story on Sunday, and miss the significance of the events leading up to the cross. We invite you to hear the whole story in three parts: Part I on Maundy Thursday during an evening worship service at 6:30pm in our Sanctuary, focused on the Lord’s Supper. We continue where we left off the previous night with Part II on Good Friday at 6:30pm in our Sanctuary, departing in silence as Jesus is placed in the tomb. We conclude with Part III on Easter Sunday morning, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ at 8:15am, 9:45am and 11:15am.

The last of our Lenten Organ Meditations will be from 12-12:30pm in the Sanctuary this Wednesday, April 9, as we reflect on Jesus’ journey to the cross. Join us for special music and a contemplative time to pray.

You’re invited to Market Place, a chance to shop with friends and check out treasures from local vendors. A portion of the proceeds benefit our Weekday School. Stop by Wednesday, April 16 in the King Parlor at First Pres, from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

Pack up your youngest kiddos (nursery through pre-k) and a picnic lunch, and join our church family Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, April 18. Rain or shine, enjoy the morning with friends on our Great Lawn. Arrive by 10:45am for an 11:00am start. Questions? Call Stacey Kirk at x1480.

COMING SOON

This final week before Palm Sunday, we have added the robe to the cross. With this addition, we are reminded of the cruelty of mockery. After beating Christ, the soldiers put a robe on Him, along with a crown of thorns, gave Him a staff, then spit on Him and mocked Him as “King of the Jews.”

After beating Him on the head again and again, they led Him out to crucify Him. These items on the cross remind us again that what happened was real. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ was not a fanciful or imaginary story, but an authentic historical event and continues to have an impact on us even this morning. Take a moment after worship today and get a closer look at the items on the cross. Jesus endured them for your salvation. - Dr. Dan Sharp

*PASSING OF THE PEACE St. Paul always greeted with the words, “The peace of God be with you.” This is an appropriate way to greet fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, and so we say, “The peace of the Lord be with you” and respond, “And also with you.” We then pass this greeting of peace to one another. At the passing of the peace we should earnestly desire God’s peace upon each person we greet.
