THE INJURY…while working out in Southern California in preparation for spring training, suffered an injury to the middle finger on his right (throwing) hand...he was examined by hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan in Arizona who diagnosed him with a strained tendon in his middle finger...was placed on the 15-day DL on March 29 (retro to March 21).

REHAB OUTING…made his only rehab appearance on April 27 for AAA Tacoma against Las Vegas...allowed 3 runs (2 ER) in the first inning before tossing 3.0 scoreless innings...retired the side in order in just the 3rd frame...also tossed a simulated game on April 22 at Safeco Field after rain threatened the game in Tacoma.

HE KEEPS GOING AND GOING…Iwakuma has tossed at least 6.0 innings in 38 of his career 50 starts, including 13 of his last 15 starts...Iwakuma ranks just behind Erik Hanson (40) and ahead of Mark Langston (34) and Dave Flem-ing (32) for most starts tossing at least 6.0 innings in first 50 career starts as a Mariner.
