A Surprise for Bess
Bess climbed the stairs to the attic. She was so excited. Her grandmother had given
her permission to go through the old cedar trunk and select one of the qilts for her bed.
The last time Bess visited there was not enouf time to explore the attic.
Bess gently pushed the top of the trunk back so it would not fal on her as she
reached into te trunk. She qickly pulled out the first quilt. It was so beautiful. Bess
thought she heard her grandmother cal from the bottom of the stairs, but she was too
busy to stop. The colors in the quilt seemed to bland together. The purple fabric would
be perfect in her room. Bess felt like she was opening presents each time she would pul
a quilt from the trunk. The loge cabin quilt with its rows of light and dark fabric was
like the one Bess was helping her grandmother make right know.
