YEARS’ EXPERIENCE OF DESIGNING & DEVELOPING SUBSEA VALVES
Unlocking possibilitiesIt is 20 years since LB Bentley supplied the first small bore valve with API specification to the subsea industry.
Today, exploration is heading into remoter locations with deeper waters and more extreme conditions. Accessing reserves is becoming more challenging than ever before.
In order to enhance recovery rates cost-effectively, operators rely on their hardware. Reliable valves are a vital component of hardware requirements.
With two decades’ experience, we have the edge when it comes to designing and developing small bore subsea valves. We pioneered metal-to-metal sealing technology that reduces the risk of contamination and failure.
We employ some of the brightest minds in the industry to stretch the boundaries of design with creative engineering. The outcome is bespoke products that help engineers solve their design challenges. We like to think of it as a partnership approach.
02 Subsea product overview
Engineered for reliability20 year-proven, our valves offer optimum safety and performance. Rotary and through conduit gate valves benefit from total metal-to-metal sealing, including our patented metal-to-metal seal between seat and body. The valves are unique in their ability to seal without the use of any non-metallic seals.
Robust, compact design coupled with special assembly options ensures our products are optimised for subsea applications.
Rotary gate valvesOur rotary gate valve is beautiful in its simplicity.
A 100% continuous metal-to-metal design ensures it performs reliably even with the dirtiest of fluids. The valve’s innovative ‘wiping’ action means it is self-cleaning, which further promotes longevity.
It has minimal moving parts and a time-saving quarter-turn mechanism that can be operated manually or with hydraulics. Even in the event of over-torque, internal components cannot be damaged; the valve will continue to rotate and function as normal.
One valve can suit multiple applications, from isolation to block before/after bleed to diverter, and a no-volume displacement design makes the product less sensitive to water depth.
A wide range of operating pressures, working pressures and operating temperatures can be catered for. Porting and mounting arrangements can be tailored according to need. And body size, stems, seals and ROV interfaces can be rationalised if required.

Through conduit gate valvesCustom-designed for use on subsea Christmas trees, manifolds, pumps and pipeline equipment, our through conduit gate valve range is ideal for restricted areas.
Patented static leaf spring design ensures that the split gates are pre-loaded against the seat face. The pre-load is applied to the gate at the centre line of the seat so that seat/gate contact is maintained at all times. This enables a low pressure gas-tight seal to be achieved without the aid of a lubricant or sealant injection.
Integral check valves can also be built into the valve inlet or outlet to provide a double barrier against the well fluid.
Where necessary, we can provide purpose-designed hydraulic compensators. They seal directly onto the valve bonnet without the need for external pipework, providing a piston displacement function if a sea chest is not available.
Applications include methanol and chemical injection, annulus wing valves, test lines or pressure/temperature transducer isolation.

Directional control valvesCheck valves can be supplied with welded, flanged or threaded connections, as standalone units or integrated with through conduit or rotary gate valves.
Porting through the spools has a through-bore equivalent to the size of the cross-section areas. The spool-to-body primary seal is metal-to-metal, with a PTFE secondary seal.
Lift pressures can be customer-specified, typically 1 to 4 bar.

Developed for use in the subsea control module of Christmas trees or manifolds, our DCVs control the application of hydraulic pressure for larger valves via an electrical signal. Compact, with a high-flow capability value, the valves can be packaged and configured in line with customer requirements.
Mono-Stable: features a single pilot to open or close when electric current is applied or removed.
Bi-Stable: has two pilots (one at each end) which operate when electric current is applied to the ‘open’ solenoid, but don’t close when it is removed. The DCV closes either when electric current is applied to the ‘close’ solenoid, or when supply pressure drops below a pre-determined value.
Dump and change-over valves are also available.
We supply:
3 Port (1 – supply & pilot, 2 – function, 3 – return)
4 Port (1 – supply, 2 – function, 3 – return, 4 – pilot)
04 Subsea product overview
Fully compliantOur valves undergo rigorous testing, over and above industry requirements. This includes a 600-cycle or 1,200-cycle lifecycle test programme (opening against full rated differential pressure) with low and high pressure gas testing to API 6A PSL 3G before and after cycling. Valves are compliant with current design and testing principles, including API 17D.
