Be thoughtful, be silent, and be reverent, for this is the House of God. Before the service, speak to the Lord; during the service,

let the Lord speak to you; after the service, speak to one another.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful, and kindle in us the fire of Your Love. Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created and You shall renew the face of the earth. O God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit, we may be truly wise, and ever rejoice in Your consolations, through Christ our Lord, Amen. PROCESSIONAL HYMN ………………………………………………………………. A&M 437

For all the Saints who from their labours rest, Who Thee by faith before the world confess’d, Thy Name, O Jesu, be for ever blest. Alleluia! Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress, and their Might; Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight; Thou in the darkness drear their one true Light. Alleluia! O may Thy soldiers, faithful, true, and bold, Fight as the Saints who nobly fought of old, And win, with them, the victor’s crown of gold. Alleluia! O blest communion! fellowship Divine! We feebly struggle, they in glory shine; Yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine. Alleluia! And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long, Steals on the ear the distant triumph-song, And hearts are brave again, and arms are strong. Alleluia! The golden evening brightens in the west; Soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest; Sweet is the calm of Paradise the blest. Alleluia! But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day; The Saints triumphant rise in bright array; The King of glory passes on His way. Alleluia! From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast, Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, Singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia!

INTROIT HYMN ……………………………………………………………………………… MEDLEY “THIS IS THE DAY” This is the day, this is the day, That the Lord has made, that the Lord has made, I will rejoice, I will rejoice,

And be glad in it, and be glad in it. This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. This is the day, this is the day, that the Lord has made.

“I WILL ENTER HIS GATES” I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart, I will enter His courts with praise. I will say this is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice for He has made me glad. He has made me glad, He has made me glad, I will rejoice for He has made me glad, glad, glad.

He has made me glad, He has made me glad, I will rejoice for He has made me glad, glad, glad. “GOD IS ALREADY HERE” God is already here, Can’t you feel His Presence, He’s already here. All you have to do Is open up your heart For God is already here.

Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God. 2

Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that she has served her term, that her penalty is paid, that she has received from the Lord's hand double for all her sins.

3 A voice cries out: “In the wilderness prepare the Way of the LORD,

make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be

lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.

5 Then the glory of the

LORD shall be revealed, and all people shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”

6 A voice says, “Cry out!” And I said,

“What shall I cry?” All people are grass, their constancy is like the flower of the field.

7 The grass withers, the flower fades, when the breath of the

LORD blows upon it; surely the people are grass. 8

The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever.

9 Get you up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good tidings; lift

up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good tidings, lift it up, do not fear; say to the cities of Judah, “Here is your God!”

10 See, the

Lord GOD comes with might, and His arm rules for Him; His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.

11 He will feed His flock like a

shepherd; He will gather the lambs in His arms, and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead the mother sheep.

SECOND LESSON

Readers: 7:00 am - Edna Barrow 9:30 am – Youth Department Reader: A Reading from the Word of God written in Acts 13:14b-26.

14b

On the sabbath day Paul and his companions went into the synagogue and sat down.

15 After the reading of the law and the

prophets, the officials of the synagogue sent them a message, saying, “Brothers, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, give it.”

16

So Paul stood up and with a gesture began to speak: “You Israelites, and others who fear God, listen.

17 The God of this people Israel chose our

ancestors and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm He led them out of it.

18 For about forty

years He put up with them in the wilderness. 19

After He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He gave them their land as an inheritance

20 for about four hundred fifty years. After that He gave them

judges until the time of the prophet Samuel. 21

Then they asked for a king; and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, who reigned for forty years.

22 When He had removed him, He made

David their king. In His testimony about him He said, “I have found David, son of Jesse, to be a man after My heart, who will carry out all My wishes.”

23 Of this man’s posterity God has brought to Israel a Saviour,

Jesus, as He promised; 24

before His coming John had already proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

25 And as John was

finishing his work, he said, “What do you suppose that I am? I am not He. No, but one is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of the sandals on His feet.”

26 “My brothers, you descendants of Abraham's family, and others

who fear God, to us the message of this salvation has been sent.”

Reader: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God.

TO US THE MESSAGE OF THIS SALVATION HAS BEEN SENT

GRADUAL HYMN …………………………...……………………………………..….. A&M 435

Lo! round the throne, a glorious band, The saints in countless myriads stand, Of every tongue redeem’d to God, Array’d in garments wash’d in Blood. Through tribulation great they came; They bore the cross, despised the shame; From all their labours now they rest, In God’s eternal glory blest.

They see their Saviour face to face, They sing the triumph of His grace; Him day and night they ceaseless praise, To Him their loud thanksgiving raise. “Worthy the Lamb, for sinners slain, Through endless years to live and reign; Thou hast redeem’d us by Thy blood, And made us kings and priests to God.”

O may we tread the sacred road That Saints and holy Martyrs trod; Wage to the end the glorious strife, And win, like them, a crown of life.

+ THE GOSPEL + Reader: The Lord be with you. Response: And also with you. Reader: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 1:57-80. Response: Glory to Christ our Saviour.

57

The time came for Elizabeth to give birth, and she bore a son. 58

Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown His great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her.

59 On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they

were going to name him Zechariah after his father. 60

But his mother said, “No; he is to be called John.”

61 They said to her, “None of your

relatives has this name.” 62

Then they began motioning to his father to find out what name he wanted to give him.

63 He asked for a writing

tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And all of them were amazed. 64

Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue freed, and he began to speak, praising God.

65 Fear came over all their neighbors, and all

these things were talked about throughout the entire hill country of Judea.

66 All who heard them pondered them and said, “What then will

this child become?” For, indeed, the hand of the Lord was with him. 67

Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke this prophecy:

68 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for He has looked favourably on

His people and redeemed them. 69

He has raised up a mighty Saviour for us in the house of His servant David,

70 as He spoke through the mouth of

His holy prophets from of old, 71

that we would be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us.

72 Thus He has shown the

mercy promised to our ancestors, and has remembered His Holy covenant,

73 the oath that He swore to our ancestor Abraham, to grant us

74 that we, being rescued from the hands of our enemies, might serve

Him without fear, 75

in holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.

76 And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for

you will go before the Lord to prepare His ways, 77

to give knowledge of salvation to His people by the forgiveness of their sins.

78 By the tender

mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, 79

to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

80 The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the

wilderness until the day he appeared publicly to Israel.

Reader: This is the Gospel of Christ. Response: Praise to Christ our Lord.

WILL BE CALLED THE PROPHET OF THE MOST HIGH; YOU WILL GO BEFORE THE LORD TO PREPARE HIS WAYS!

10 Strategies For Fighting Discouragement

1. Allow for rest stops. Discouragement is often our body’s way of saying, “Stop! I need rest”. Try taking a nap or getting to bed a little earlier. It’s amazing how different things look in the light of morning (Exodus 34:21). 2. Get a new point of view. Take a few steps back and ask God to help you see His perspective on your situation. Often what seems to be an impossible mountain in our eyes is only a steppingstone in His (Isaiah 33:17). 3. Have patience. It’s easy to get discouraged when things don’t go the way you planned. But if you’ve committed your concerns to the Lord, you can be sure He is at work, even when you don’t see His hand (Romans 8:28). 4. Mingle. Discouragement feeds off isolation. Get out of the house! Go visit some friends. It’s amazing how good, old fashioned fellowship can lift our spirits and chase away the blues (Psalm 133:1). 5. Set the timer. Okay. So things aren’t so good. I’ve found it helpful to set the oven timer and allow ten minutes for a good cry. But when the buzzer sounds, I blow my nose, wipe my eyes, and surrender my situation to the Lord so I can move on (Ecclesiastes 3:4). 6. Love Yourself.

Make yourself loveable and stop turning people away because of self- righteous attitude (Luke 10:27) 7. Love the unlovable. Get outside your clique of friends and widen your circle of friends; yes, you need more friends so as to grow even more (Lk. 6:35), (Matt.5:44). 8. Arrest Anger. Look in the mirror; a genuine smile wipes ugliness out of your life. (Luke 5:22). 9. Get rid of obstacles.

Some people in our lives are leading us down the path of a miserable, corrupt and sinful life. Bosom friends can be dangerous to our growth. (Matt. 5:29-30). 10. Let perfection be your goal.

“I’m, only human” is too often used to justify our poor performance and is only a “feel good” cliché for discouragement. (Matt 5:48).

Kings for harps their crowns resign, Crying, as they strike the chords, "Take the Kingdom, it is Thine, King of kings, and Lord of lords."

Round the Altar Priests confess, If their robes are white as snow, 'Twas the Saviour's Righteousness, And His Blood, that made them so.

They were mortal too like us; O, when we like them shall die, May our souls translated thus Triumph, reign, and shine on high.

RECESSIONAL HYMN - 9:30 AM ……………………….. “JESUS, HOLD MY HAND” As I travel through this pilgrim land there is a Friend who goes with me. Leads me safely thro’ the sinking sand, it is the Christ of Calvary. This would be my pray’r, dear Lord, each day to help me do the best I can, For I need Thy light to guide me day and night, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Blessed Jesus, hold my hand, yes, I need Thee ev'ry hour, Thru this land, this pilgrim land, by Thy saving pow'r. Hear my plea, my feeble plea, Lord, dear Lord, look down on me, When I kneel in prayer, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Let me travel in the light divine that I may see the blessed way; Keep me that I may be wholly Thine and sing redemption's song some day. I will be a soldier brave and true and ever firmly take a stand, As I onward go and daily meet the foe, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand. When I wander thru the valley dim toward the setting of the sun, Lead me safely to a land of rest if I a crown of life have won; I have put my faith in Thee, dear Lord, that I may reach the golden strand, There's no other Friend on whom I can depend, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand. Priest: The Mass is ended. Go in peace rejoicing in the power of the Holy

Spirit. People: Thanks be to God. Amen!!!

GO FORTH IN THE NAME OF CHRIST!

Whence all their white array? How came they to the blissful seats Of everlasting day? Lo! these are they from sufferings great Who came to realms of light; And in the Blood of Christ have wash’d Those robes that shine so bright. Now with triumphal palms they stand Before the Throne on high, And serve the God they love amidst The glories of the sky.

Hunger and thirst are felt no more, Nor suns with scorching ray; God is their Sun, Whose cheering beams Diffuse eternal day. The Lamb, Which dwells amidst the Throne, Shall o’er them still preside, Feed them with nourishment Divine, And all their footsteps guide. Midst pastures green He’ll lead His flock, Where living streams appear; And God the Lord from every eye Shall wipe off every tear.

Take a look, open your eyes, He'll show it to you. Have you ever looked at the sunset With the sky mellowing red, And the clouds suspended like feathers Then I say, you've seen Jesus my Lord.

Have you ever stood at the ocean With the white foam at your feet, Felt the endless thundering motion? Then I say, you've seen Jesus my Lord. Have you ever looked at the cross, with a man hanging in pain And the look of love in His eyes? Then I say, you've seen Jesus my Lord.

Have you ever stood in the family With the Lord there in your midst Seen the face of Christ on each other? Then I say, you've seen Jesus my Lord.

I WILL NEVER CEASE TO PRAISE HIM! I'LL SHOUT IT WHILE ETERNITY ROLLS!!

“HE TOUCHED ME”

Shackled by a heavy burden, 'Neath a load of guilt and shame. Then the Hand of Jesus touched me, And now I am no longer the same.

He touched me, O, He touched me, And O the joy that floods my soul. Something happened and now I know, He touched me and made me whole.

Since I met the Blessed Saviour, Since He cleansed and made me whole, I will never cease to Praise Him! I'll shout it while eternity rolls.

“SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL”

Something beautiful, something good, All my confusion, He understood, All I had to offer Him was loneliness and strife, But He made something beautiful of my life. Something generous, something kind, He gave me vision, When I’d been blind. All I had was weariness, from playing out my role, But He made something beautiful of my soul. Something mystical, something pure, He took my doubting, and made me sure, All I had was emptiness, to His love I was blind; But He gave peace and harmony to my mind.

CHILDREN’S HYMN ………………..……………………….……………… “I SING A SONG”

I sing a song of the saints of God, Patient and brave and true, Who toiled and fought and lived and died For the Lord they loved and knew. And one was a doctor, and one was a queen, And one was a shepherdess on the green; They were all of them saints of God, and I mean, God help me, to be one too. They loved their Lord so dear, so dear, And His love made them strong; And they followed the right for Jesus' sake The whole of their good lives long. And one was a soldier, and one was a priest, And one was slain by a fierce wild beast; And there's not any reason, no, not the least, Why I shouldn't be one too. They lived not only in ages past; There are hundreds of thousands still. The world is bright with the joyous saints Who love to do Jesus' will. You can meet them in school, on the street, in the store, In church, by the sea, in the house next door; They are saints of God, whether rich or poor, And I mean to be one too.

Palms of glory, raiment bright, Crowns that never fade away, Gird and deck the Saints in light, Priests, and kings, and conquerors they.

Yet the conquerors bring their palms To the Lamb amidst the Throne, And proclaim in joyful psalms Victory through His Cross alone.
