    SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENT:

    1. Secured an All India Rank of 4335 (amongst about 400000 students) at the national levelJoint Entrance Examination for the IITs.

    2. Secured 10th rank in the merit list of XII board exam amongst about 500000 students.

    3. Secured 28th rank in the merit list of X board exam amongst about 800000 students.

    4. Was selected for Indo-Russian Workshop on Complex systems and Symposium on Nonlinear science. I presented poster of my work and was appreciated for my work by scientist likeProf. James Yorke and Prof. Jurgen Kurths.

    FIELDS OF INTEREST:

    1. Nonlinear Dynamics2. Non-equilibrium statistical physics3. Condensed Matter Physics

    Projects Undertaken

    1. Spread of epidemic in complex network

    (July 2009- April 2010)

Guide: Prof. Dibyendu Das, IIT Bombay

    Undergraduate Research Award (URA)

Description: We plan to study different kind of networks and their topology and finally develophow information or disease (as the case may be) spreads in these networks. I studiedelementary Graph Theory and Group Theory and applied it to derive various parameters ofRandom Network. Presently I am developing a model for the spread of disease in randomnetwork using basic network dynamics and directed percolation.

    2. Synchronization of a collection of nonlinear oscillators

    (January-November 2009)

    3/5

    Guide: Prof. Punit Parmananda

    Seminar Project and Summer Project

Description: This numerical model was developed during the course project of Nonlinear

Dynamics course (Spring Semester 2009). We have shown that a collection of nonlinearoscillators eventually attain global synchronization. We have also shown that random hoppingof oscillators is necessary to attain synchronization and there is an optimal value for thehopping amplitude at which the attainment of synchronization is swiftest. We have submittedour findings to Physical Review E:

Sumantra Sarkar and P.Parmananda'Synchronization of a collection of oscillators regulated by their spatial movement'.

    3. Sudoku generator and solver

    (September-November 2007)

    Guide: Prof. S. Sudarshan

Course Project in Computer Programming and Utilization course

Description: We have developed a program using C++ which can generate and solve a sudoku, apopular number puzzle. It has a very user friendly GUI and can solve a Sudoku in five different

    ways.

Relevant Courses (To be completed by April 2010)
