Hannah surprised us all by arriving six weeks early! I woke up around 5:00 a.m. on August 3rd to discover my water broke. I was then admied to the hospital a couple hours later. e next morning, August 4, I was 34 weeks along (a safe milestone in pregnancy) and they decided it was safest for the baby to induce labor for fear of infection. Shortly aer 5:00 p.m. Hannah Lee Raymer entered this world. Sadly, I didn’t get to hold her like I always imagined. Because of her premature status they whisked her away to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) aer allowing me to kiss her sweet head. For nearly three weeks I visited the NICU every day to see my sweet girl. I cannot begin to tell you the emotional ups and downs I went through during that time. My mother was here for nearly four weeks helping me out with Elizabeth and the house. I am grateful beyond words. Right aer my mom le, Clayton’s mom and youngest sister arrived for a couple of days. His sister was able to stay for a couple of weeks to help out. So much help. So much love. Hannah’s birth weight was 3 lbs. 15 oz. and she is now 8 lbs. 4 oz.! She’ll be small for her age and reach milestones about 6 weeks late until she’s about two years old. But she’s doing very well otherwise. Elizabeth is loving being the big sister and looks for ways to help oen from helping change diapers to singing to her when she cries. Clayton has now started the Masters of Business (MBA) program at the University of Louisville. at takes him away more than he’d like but it’ll be good for the family in the long run. 19 more months to go! Team Expansion allowed me to take maternity leave for several weeks. I started back to work on October 6th. It’s really hard to balance taking care of Hannah, taking/picking up Elizabeth from pre-kindergarten, cooking, shopping, and taking care of the house all on top of work. Hannah surprised us all by arriving six weeks early! I woke up around 5:00 a.m. on August 3rd to discover my water broke. I was then admitted to the hospital a couple hours later. The next morning, August 4, I was 34 weeks along (a safe milestone in pregnancy) and they decided it was safest for the baby to induce labor for fear of infection.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. Hannah Lee Raymer entered this world. Sadly, I didn’t get to hold her like I always imagined. Because of her premature status they whisked her away to the

NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) after allowing me to kiss her sweet head. For nearly three weeks I visited the NICU every day to see

my sweet girl. I cannot begin to tell you the emotional ups and downs I went through during that time.

My mother was here for nearly four weeks helping me out with Elizabeth and the house. I am grateful beyond words. Right after my mom left, Clayton’s mom and youngest sister arrived for a couple of days.

Elizabeth is loving being the big sister and looks for ways to help often from helping change diapers to singing to her when she cries.

Clayton has now started the Masters of Business (MBA) program at the University of Louisville. That takes him away more than he’d

like but it’ll be good for the family in the long run.

Prayers are greatly appreciated!

As we walk through news broadcasts in restaurants, businesses and our homes, we are daily reminded of political tensions like those in Crimea, armed conflict in the Middle East, and even viral disease like Ebola in West Africa. Team Expansion has workers in each of these hot-spots and none has asked to come home.

Honestly, the courage of all of our Team Expansion workers both inspires me and gives me pause. I imagine you can identify. But each of those workers would quickly want to

point out that, in turn, he or she is inspired by the faith and commitment of waves of new local believers who stand strong for their faith regardless of the cost. Join me today in thanking God for them, and thank YOU for your gift to Christ for unreached peoples through Team Expansion. Doug Lucas

PRAYThe tell Magazine

My goal was to have the magazine printed before Hannah came, but with her arriving six weeks early it didn’t happen. While she was in the NICU I did what I could though it wasn’t enough to complete it. Now that my maternity leave is over I’ve sent it to our Leadership Team for approval and then it is off to the printer!

If I have your mailing address keep your eye out for it to arrive in your mailbox later this month! We always release a digital copy online for those who prefer that medium instead.

Prayer Requests & Praises

Up and ComingWhile I was on maternity leave I still was able to get a few things done. International

Services puts out a newsletter each month called The Visionary, which I continued to produce among a few other minor projects.

As soon as I started back to work another Launch (missionary candidate training) began at the office. Hannah and I spent nearly an entire day at the office while I conducted one-on-one meetings with the potential missionaries. It was somewhat difficult juggling her needs in and out of meetings, but we managed. I’m hoping it will get easier as she gets bigger and we establish a schedule.

There is a long line of projects in my queue now that I’m working again. After I get the tell magazine to the printers, the top priority projects will be ICOM (International Conference on Missions) projects and several prayer cards for missionaries. The end of the year is approaching and there are still goals I’d like to accomplish before December 31.

Serving part-time at home with a baby and a four (almost five) year old, and a husband in a Masters program is daunting and challenging. I love my ministry though and am confident God will supply me with the finances and time to continue serving Him both as a mother, wife, and Team Expansion employee.
