DESCRIPTION

The objective of this integrated media series is to promote a fashion show I will be holding directed towards the twenty-first century female fashionista's called The Language of Fashion: Evolution Through Time. With high anticipation I hope the fashion seekers will recieve the message that through the years, fashion has been a continual manifestation of people's intimate thoughts and has escalated into a non verbal system of communication reflective upon society's economical state.

This pie chart displays how the economic factors over the past 50 years effected the retail sales of the fashion world. For example: From the 1940’s to 1950’s the economy

was recovering from the great depression, where all sales dropped as a result of a 1930’s recession. In the 1960’s and 1970’s sales begin to slowly increase as the

economy was in full recovery and the war was over. This was also the beginning of gender equality, and was highly reflective in economy as women began to shop and dress more appealing. Lastly, in the 1980’s to 1990’s fashion sales sky-rocketed as economic times became prosperous, women were making their way into the career world, and Canada saw it’s first female Prime Minister. With regards to the current

21st century and the unknown future, fashion sales have been at a constant high and appear to stay so, in a society where appearance is vital.

Influential Fashion Designers & their Struggle through economic Hardships

Fashion trends not only took a hit depending on the economic state, but also the designers who created them.

In the 1940’s Karl Lagerfield also known as "Kaiser Karl“ was the main designer an editor for Coco Chanel’s line of clothing, despite the 1940’s great depression and recession era, he continued to manufacture clothing, and still does today.

In the 1950’s and 1960’s Emilio Pucci arose with his famous line Louis Vutton, although the economy had been recovering from the great depression at the time, his line became increasingly popular and well-known, and he proceeded to create fashion trends unlike any before.

In the 1970’s and 1980’s, designers Calvin Klein, and Proctor and Gamble of Juicy Couture debuted there lines as it grabbed the hearts of fashionistas everywhere, reflective on the economy, sales drastically increased, as did the clothing lines.

In the more recent 1990’s and 21st century, clothing is reflective on pat designers. Designers that emerged in the 1940’s to now, are still the one’s adorning bodies everywhere. The current economic state is somewhat stable, as is the fashion world today.
