Key to the success of any plans to support the Consortium is a firm hold on reality – so CETABC has focused its intelligence around three contexts:
I – Factors over which we have NO CONTROL.
II – Factors over which we have LIMITED INFLUENCE.
III – Factors over which we have FULL CONTROL.
These are key distinctions that we feel all partners to the Consortium must acknowledge up front and agree to work through together.
A REALITY-BASED PLAN:
![Page 6: 09 11 04 10 07 01 06 02 13 14 05 08 12 15 03 12 An association of CE/CT professionals from colleges, universities, and institutes across BC who work together](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022062805/5697bfd01a28abf838caa9c7/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Factors Over WhichCETABC Has
NO INFLUENCE
State of the economy
Government funding for labour market training
Government funding for Aboriginal, immigrant and other targeted labour market training
Actual markets for business, corporate and industry training
Actual markets for all other contract training opportunities
Intensity of competitive pressure
REALITIES WE NEED TO FACE:
As partners going forward, we need to agree on and acknowledge what is entirely outside our control.
![Page 7: 09 11 04 10 07 01 06 02 13 14 05 08 12 15 03 12 An association of CE/CT professionals from colleges, universities, and institutes across BC who work together](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022062805/5697bfd01a28abf838caa9c7/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Factors Over WhichCETABC Has
LIMITED INFLUENCE
Divergent business / operational models
Different regional economic development priorities
Unequal expertise across institutions
Level of CT funding within institutions
Poor price competitiveness due to collective agreements
Interdepartmenal collaboration within institution
Adequate CT staffing levels to support collaborative contract training
RESPONSIBILITIES WE NEED TO SHARE:
Some of what stands in the way of success are not things that CETABC can overcome on our own. Nor are they things we can simply hope to work around. They require intervention at the Presidential level.
