    Opening Remarks by Mr

    Kaarthikeyan

    Sun Yogi Umashankarji addressed the

Foundations for Good Governanceearlier on Sun Yoga. Born in a smallvillage called Lachipur in Midnaporedistrict of West Bengal, fromchildhood he has been inclinedtowards spirituality. His mother hasbeen his guru. By the age of 18 he hasspent a lot of time in learning hatayoga, and committed to universal unity, peace and brotherhood. He is agraduate and also qualified electricalengineer. Then he went to Aurobindoashram in Pondicherry, attracted bythe philosophy of Shri Aurobindo. There, he used to go to the seashorefor meditation in the mornings, wherewithout intending to gaze at the sun ordo sun meditation, he was attracted bythe rising sun and started gazing at thesun. Over a period of time he foundthe need for food getting reduced dayby day. First he had one meal, thenultimately he could stay without food

or water even for weeks together.

I had taken him on Kailas MansarovarYatra via Katmandu and Lhasa. He wasdressed in a dhothi around his waistand a simple cotton towel over hisshoulders. He walked barefoot andwithout any warm clothing even ataltitudes above 17,000 feet above sealevel. According to him anyone canachieve this by dedicated practice of

Sun Yoga. He spent over 600 days over11,000 feet above sea level. It was anashram built long back by one of theRishis. Last year also he came for a fewdays and went back. When he returnedrecently he showed many photographs;we thought Delhites would like to have a

look at them and how this man is able tobe there all by himself. If there is a strongwill power and determination, he says,

    anything can be achieved.

    Sun Yogi Umashankarji

Universal brothers and sisters and myfriends, it is my pleasure to share myHimalayan experiences. Before that Iwould like to say my prayers. Ek Tumhi

Adhaar means you are everythingSadguru. And that is not outside, thatis inside. That supreme soul is

    everything.

My experience of 600 days inHimalayas started on 23 June 2007,from Lachipur, from where I went tothe Himalayas. First I went to Nepal, Ithought that Mount Everest is suitablefor me because that is the high altitude. So, I went to the Mount Everest side.

But I was not allowed to stay there forlonger period because I was an Indian. There was one hill - Kumbi Ullaho, which I climbed and I came back.People said one cannot go there in fewhours; I showed my photographs ontop of the hill. Then they said that thatwas a Muslim hill and a Hindu, Buddhistor Christian who goes there will

    disappear.

Then I reached Laghu Che, which isvery near to the Mount Everest basecamp. There was snow fall which Ienjoyed. Then I reached the basecamp of Mount Everest; I was notallowed to stay there. Then I thoughtwhy not India, and that could be

    Tapovan.

I saw a person called Shimla Baba; he is

very old and when he was ten yearsold he left the family and he devotedhis life for spirituality. He spent 40

years in Tapovan where I lived for twoyears. I saw the vision of him. Irequested him to allow me to stay for

two years for meditation. Then I sawthrough my vision I will get hispermission. When I returned fromMount Everest base camp, immediately Ireached Tapovan and then I reached hiscottage. He was not there and I stayedfor three days and somebody told that I

    have to get his permission.

From Tapovan to Gangotri, I came down

within 3 hours 45 minutes because myfirst aim was to see him and getpermission for my sadhana. Normally ittakes minimum 8 hours from Tapovan toGangotri. I saw him and he told me thatI have to arrange everything for myself. Then I told him that I needed only hisblessing which is enough for me. Heasked me to come the next day; when Iwent there the next morning he askedme not to think about anything. Hepromised me to provide everything, and

asked me to meditate and not leave. Isaid one day I have to die, so why wouldI try to leave. I went to do my sadhana. There was one big rock in the middle ofthe river Ganges. Then I asked the saint, please bless me I should not be the rock,I want to be the river Ganges water. Then he asked why. I told that the stoneis symbol of ego. We all have strongegos and we cant destroy that. River isunconditional love and I want to be that

unconditional love. Through theunconditional love I want to break theego. Then he understood my thoughtand he was very happy and then Ireached Tapovan. On the one side isBhagirathi hill; there are three peaks ofBhagirathi, one is 6800 odd meters. Onthe left side is Bhagirathi III which is 6400meters and the second peak was 6600

    meters.

The deers around the Tapovan are myinspiration; they walk and jump. Howthey can live without clothes, without

I want to be the river

Ganges water andnot a Stone. Stone is

    symbol of ego. We

all have strong egosand we cant destroythat. River is

unconditional loveand I want to be that

    unconditional love.Through the

unconditional love Iwant to break the

    ego

house, and amidst too much snow falling? For about three days it was 5 feet snowwas there and they were covered by

snow up to their necks. Then I felt, onenight a group of about 50 deers werestanding in the snow and then I felt theymight have dead. I was praying to God,to save us. God is protecting everybody,it is not necessary to pray. In themorning I wanted to go there but feltthat I too will be trapped. But when thesun rose, the deers started jumping andplaying in the snow, I was surprised. So Ithought inside my body I have the samecapacity and through meditation we candevelop that. I know before that Sunmeditation can give us that muchstrength. Whether it is cold or hot, thephysical body can feel little bit it can be

resisted. So they were my inspiration.

One day I was looking at the sky ofTapovan, beautiful sky. I was trying toproject that through a camera becauseeverybody cannot reach there and

everybody cannot stay in winter also. Iwas alone in that cottage and nobodywas there and I took as manyphotographs as I can. I took 6000beautiful photographs. It was impossibleto project the whole sky at a time. ThenI saw two stars (milky ways) as a cross, from the eastern part and western partand they were connected at the northside of the earth. Bears used to comethere. Sometimes they might haveattacked human but I have some videosalso of a snow bear running away which Iwill show you at the end. I saw thesnow leopards also. But by the time Itook my camera, they went away. I wasunlucky I could not get the snowleopards photographs. This is the footprint of snow bear. There are alsoflowers of snow; There are so manydifferent types of medicinal plants arethere. Himalayas is a wealth of

    everything.

I lived in a winter cottage for two years.Snow could sometime be 10-15 feet.

Every day I have to clear the snowand come out. At that time cold isaround minus 40 to 50 degrees; at

minus 50 degrees, even gloves are notsufficient. I have one kerosene stove;when I need a glass of water, I haveto melt the snow for half an hour andthen I will get a glass of water.Sometimes the stove does not workand in that climate normal peoplehave no other way but to die.Oxygen also is very less in this place.I was alone there in that cave during

    winter and nobody was there.

The surroundings of Tapovan arecalled Kedardum parbat. On theother side there is a Shivling and onthe left side there is the Kedarnathparbat. Down the Kedarnath parbatis Kedarnath temple. It is impossibleto go that way because it is so steepat 3000 mts; one has to go to

    Kedarnath on a different route.

Meru Parbat and Sumeru Parbat arewonderful places and are my winterfriends. Two mynas used to comeeveryday, yellow beak and black as acrow but they are mynas. I am alucky person, for they eat food frommy hand. Those birds have faith inme, they trusted me and then I felt OGod how you blessed me. Duringsummer more than 100 mynas usedto come at a time, I used to cookfood for them and I used to feedthem. In winters, they would come at6am and sit at my hut; I felt thatsometime they are calling me by myname. I used to get up at 4am everyday and I used to do meditation insideand when they would call me I usedto answer I am here. I used to givefood in the mornings also but at thatmoment they could not eat at thattime. I thought they are coming for

food and gave them food but they didnot eat. Then I felt they came to seeme only. But after sunlight came and I

gave the food they would eat it.

    Meru Parbat and

    Sumeru Parbat arewonderful places and

    are my winter friends.

Two mynas used tocome everyday, yellowbeak and black as a

crow but they aremynas. I am a lucky

person, for they eatfood from my hand.

place, we have to hold loose rocks andclimb up and if we slip we fall 200mdown into the glacier. That is so muchrisky but with lot of patience wereached Vasuki tal and after reachingVasuki tal the two saints told me we willnot return to Tapovan and we will go to

    Bardinath.

I prevented them saying that it is riskyto go in that route and we needpermission to go that way otherwisethey may be imprisoned. Then they said

we are saints, if we are imprisoned wecan do our sadhana there. When Icould not stop them then I followedthem. When we were going there, there was 1.5km wide glacier and thereis no way to cross that glacier. Withgreat difficulty we crossed that andwhen we reached the base camp ofKalindi pass we started walking and 2kmfrom the base camp I saw a dead body.Last year 6 persons died in that areadespite having all the equipment andsatellite phones etc. and we are goingwithout any equipment. After reachingKalindi pass it took 4-5 hours, and it wasnoon time. So we stopped there fornight. Nobody stops there because thatplace is so windy that it can blow twopersons along with the tent. But we arelucky and when I reached the topimmediately snow fall started. Itsnowed for two hours and there after itwas quiet. In the early morning it was

crystal clear weather. We started thenext morning to cross the 10km glacier.I took out my clothes and made ropesout of them. One person was at thefront, there is one in the middle and Iwas at the end of the rope. Half akilometer after our journey one persongot stuck inside. However, we crossedthis dangerous path and reached

    Badrinath.

Foreigners used to go to Tapovanduring summer time and some duringwinter also. I am surprised at their

Meru parbat, which is more than

6700 meters in Tapovan area is alsomy friend, so is a mouse there. Inwinters they were my friend.During the day time myna was myfriend and in the night time themouse was my friend. When I sitfor meditation one mouse willcome and sit on my right lap andanother mouse will come and sit onmy left lap. That also I felt that I amlucky, though they are very smallbut God is everywhere and life is

there and that life trusted me.Those two years were veryenjoyable years. There is a snowShivling which starts forming inNovember and stands up to April. After April it would melt away anddisappear. Amarnath shivling isformed inside a cave but this is in

    the open place.

Once I went from Tapovan toBadrinath. This is a very dangerousroute. I crossed the Kalindi passand when I reached Badrinath thenI saw the Nilgiri hill. One of myNepalese friends donated two tentsso that I can live in the Himalayas. One day along with two saints Iplanned to go to Vasuki tal, which istwo days journey from Tapovan ontop of the hill. We had only oneand half liters kerosene and three

days food for all. When we reachedthat Vasuki tal, before the Vasukital, 200m we have to climb up on anarrow path. There was no holding

    Foreigners used to go

    to Tapovan duringsummer time and

determination. Nobody could reachthere but foreigners used to reach there. There is a Gangotri temple, where they

celebrate a festival called Ganga Saptamifestival, where 1 lakh 25 thousandcandles were lit. At all the four dhams Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath,Badrinath Ganga Tulsi is given asprasadam. It has a very nice smell whichremains for a long time. I found anothermedicinal plant there which gives uswarmness. One might have heard thatthere are so many saints in Himalayas, who eat that plant to keep their bodywarm. I have tried one leaf and I felt bybody warm and the hunger is also veryless. This is a very powerful medicinal

plant. There are many medicinal plants.

In the Muktinath temple in Nepal, onecan see nine suns. Somebody asked meSwamiji did you saw two suns, I replied, not two suns I saw so many suns andtook photographs also. You can countthat 9 suns are there in this square.

There are so many reflections of sun inred, green, blue are there. This is the

    effect of global warming.

I will share some of my spiritualexperiences. I saw the 29 chakras in ourbody. First year when I was meditating Isaw a light coming from the sky andinside the light I saw Mahavtar Babajisalive body. I do believe he is still alive. I

never asked him anything but I know thatwhen I need something he will bless mebecause I have his blessings fromchildhood. When I was there then I sawhim, I was enjoying and I kept on walkingimmediately one after another all thechakras started to open and I neverexpected this thing to happen. Thereare seven chakras inside the body, 11chakras above the body and 11 chakrasbelow the mulaadar. So in total there29 chakras and when I reached Plus 14

point I saw beautiful things of creation ofuniverse. If you are interested then I willgo in detail, how the blackholes aremoving like a pendulum and at the centre

is the universal magnetic force andthe secondary centre is the receiverwhich is receiving the magnetic force

from the space and how energy ischanging by that disbalance and howthe galaxies, stars and planets andsatellites (moons) are created, andthen I got the vision that the satellitesare also divided and I named then

    atomic satellites.

The seven chakras is related tonature, sansar is blackhole ofuniverse. Artha chakra is theblackhole of galaxies, visuddha chakras

is the blackhole of sun. Anathachakra is blackhole of earth, nabhichakra is blackhole of moon, swadistham chakra is blackhole ofatomic satellite, muladhar chakra isrelated to blackhole of molecularsatellites. I was not eating and nowalso it is not necessary to eat but Ihave started to eat. Suppose you aregoing from Delhi to Calcutta, onceyou got the confirmed ticket, do youhave to get down at every station and

buy your ticket every time, is itnecessary? No. Once you got theticket then definitely you will reachyour destination. Similarly, eating anddrinking are the stations of our life. These are one of the siddhis. It ispositive siddhi and it makes no harmto anybody. But that positive siddhi

also brings us to our ultimate goal.

I have got higher experiences throughmeditation. Then I felt that noteating, not drinking, not sleeping isnot the end. There must be

    I was not eating and

now also it is notnecessary to eat but I

    have started to eat.

Suppose you are goingfrom Delhi to Calcutta, once you got the

confirmed ticket, do youhave to get down at

every station and buyyour ticket every time,

    is it necessary? No.

society, it will work and it is working.

Why I came here is because somepeople can connect to me and chargethemselves. Siddhis are there. All yogishave so many higher siddhis. Siddhi andyoga are not equal. Siddhi is of a lowergrade and yoga is the connectionbetween soul to supreme soul, innercosmos to universal cosmos. Thesiddhis are also of two types. One isevil siddhi and the other is divine siddhi. Before the Samadhi stage we also get so

many siddhis. The siddhis like walkingon water and things like that are onlyfor attraction, for name or fame. Thatkind of siddhis come before Samadhi andthen in the pruktaharam stage we cancontrol the material desires, and thatpower if you look it could be, if you sayit could be, that kind of siddhi we canhave. But if we stop there, then wecannot reach the Samadhi. AfterSamadhi also so many siddhis are there. After Samadhi I got conquer of hunger, conquer of thirst, it is not for name orfame but siddhi is siddhi, siddhi isblocking us from higher experience. So,yogis have siddhis but it is not forselfishness, it is not for attraction. Weneed to apply this siddhi for the society.I talked about 29 chakras, Samadhi is aconnection between +5 and -5.Another 9 higher siddhis are there butmy purpose of living is I dont want tostop at siddhis but go higher and higher.

Though I got the 29 chakras I know verylittle of the universe. It is impossible toknow everything about the universe.

The knowledge I got is very minimum.

something behind and I am aresearcher of that. I have right toresearch me. I have the right to

test me, I have no right to test you. When I saw the 29 chakras, plus sixchakras was conquer of hungerstage, plus 7 chakras is conquer ofthirst stage, another plus 7 chakrasis the higher stages. Now also I amready to stay without food andwithout water with same capacity. Inever lost my capacity. For 12years I was trying, I was enjoyingthat siddi stage. I can eat very little

now just to show that it is not theend.

    Questions and Responses

Question: You have meditated inPondicherry, you have meditated inan urban environment like ourhome and then you meditated at aplace which is completely isolated, what is the difference which you

found there. Another questions isHanuman Chalisa talks about largenumber of siddhis did you get somesiddis of that nature which aredescribed there which you can passit on to others for some socialcause or this leads only to yourown peace of mind that you spenda lot of time having complete solaceand all that and we finish our life

    like that.

Shri Umashankarji: If I am standinghere, it is for a social cause. If thereceiver is not strong it cannotreceive the signal. Here you cannotsee television though televisionfrequency is everywhere. If you puta television then also you cannotsee the picture. You have to addelectricity. After adding electricityalso you cannot see the picture.

You have to connect it with areceiver or an antenna. We arealready surrounded by the society, that vibration is positive for the
