WE ACKNOWLEDGE THAT WE LIVE ON THE LAND OFTHE TURRBAL AND YAGGERA PEOPLES AND THATSOVEREIGNTY WAS NEVER CEDED. WE PAY OUR

RESPECTS TO ELDERS PAST, PRESENT ANDEMERGING. THIS ALWAYS WAS AND ALWAYS WILL

BE SOVEREIGN ABORIGINAL LAND.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OFCOUNTRY

E L B U R Y Five-piece alternative-folk act from Brisbane,

with a repertoire that verges on acoustic rock

but also lots of singer-songwriter tunes, some

ballads and some fun, upbeat numbers. Lots of

vocal harmonies and even a bit of instrument-

swapping, to keep things interesting! The team

hail from diverse musical backgrounds – a Nick

Cave man, a prog-rocker, singer-songwriters and

indie-fans – and everyone adds their own special

twist to the mix.

12.00 PM - 12.45 PM

G R E S H K A Loosen your suspenders, tighten your shoelaces

and get ready to flap your extremities! Greshka is

a five piece neo-gypsy/klezmer ensemble not

unlike a chipotle and cocaine kebab: you’re not

sure where it’s from, but it sure knocks you off

your tits. A torn canvas of Romanian gypsy dons

a filthy smear of electronica, metal, jazz-funk and

classical-arrangement.

1 .00 PM - 1 .45 PM

E N D L E S S V A L L E Y An eclectic progressive collective of Gods sent

from the sacred land of Nayivada, inspired by a

wide range of world and psychedelic music. The

name Endless Valley symbolises ocean floors that

if emptied, would connect continents. Venturing

into the dreamworld of Nayivada, Endless Valley’s

sound will connect with ancient cultures through

a visual performance of dance and swirling beauty

that is past, present and future.

2.00 PM - 2.45 PM

TURNSTYLE

O L D S E M E I LOld Semeil want to sing you a song, inviting

audiences into their world for a few stolen

moments. A kinetic live experience hinged on

true expression, using both the classic rock

band, and raw, intimate duo formats as a

vehicle to spin their tales, bleed their hearts

and kick up the dust.

3.00 PM - 3 .45 PM

T H E N E W M I D D L E C L A S SA Brisbane based band with a fluctuating

membership, the band is currently a three piece

featuring acoustic guitar, cello and three vocals.

Trying to live up to its initial genre aim of

chamber folk the band is currently working on its

third album, which is a trip into the nostalgia of

childhood and other what-could-have-beens.

4.00 PM - 4.45 PM

D A Y O F E M B E R S Daryl James (Wales, UK) & Dawn (Aus/Can) are folk

and roots singer/songwriters who have combined

their love and lyricisms to unveil Day of Embers.

The duo have written a collection of Folk Fables

interlaced with real-life and age-old family stories.

While they were born on opposite ends of the

globe, Dawn & Daryl’s roots run deep through their

Celtic and Gypsy origins of Ireland, Wales, India and

the Americas.

5.00 PM - 5.45 PM

TURNSTYLE

Z U M P ABe transported with Zumpà to forgotten Italian

fishing villages, moonlit olive groves and a hard

life under a hot sun where peasants play music

to celebrate life with a fierce sense of humour.

They provide the sounds and energy of folk,

gypsy and Italian world music woven together

to provide a truly spaghetti and meatballs

experience.

6.00 PM - 6.45 PM

TURNSTYLE

R I V E R M O U T H A local 4-piece act featuring vocals, keys, drums

and bass that’s all about urban mythology,

dissident philosophy and dope beats. We share

stories of a subtropical metropolis peppered with

musings on activism, xenophobia and Brisbane's

buried past. Spoken word/hip-hop/folk flavoured

with river-mud and burnt flags.

7.00 PM - 7.45 PM

S T R A N D E D A S S E T SStranded Assets is a seven piece

country/Americana/folk band with three part

harmony accompanied by a rotation of

acoustic and electric guitar, upright bass,

mandolin, banjo, fiddle, squeeze box and lap

steel. We play across the tempo spectrum

from mournful tunes that'll get you weeping,

through to upbeat jigs that'll get you do-si-

doing. Inspiration includes Hank Williams,

Lucinda Williams, Lynn Anderson, Bonnie

Prince Billy and Gillian Welch.

Can we make housing affordable, sustainable and fairer for all? Learn about CLTs local

to this community. Individual residents hold long-term tenure of the dwelling, without

needing to own the land. CLTs are a working model gaining more international interest

since the US Civil Rights Movement in 1969. CLTs can mean an affordable and

sustainable home for life, without a million dollar mortgage. Explore different housing

types and sizes arranged in clusters, shared communal services and spaces, lush styled

coliving, the inclusion of creative places of work and trade, regenerative food and fibre

landscapes... even a radically caring way of life! We aim to see a process created in

conjunction with State and Local governments for the community to develop land for

itself.

ache for?

This film was created across Barunggam, Biripi,

who like to sing together - you might call us a

mostly acapella group! From songs by The

Beatles, Natalie Merchant, Milck, Bob Dylan to

Bob Marley. We meet at Turnstyle (10 Laura St,

Highgate Hill) each Tuesday from 7-8:30pm. We

like to perform when we get the chance, but

we're mostly motivated by the joy of singing with

others. We represent a range of musical abilities

and experience - there is a place for everyone.

Smallest Horse are a folk-punk band from Brisbane,

Australia. They sing and shout about cute dogs and

starting families, and about dealing with loss and

moving forward. Heart, laughter, misery, and

ukulele are some of what's poured into a Smallest

Horse song. The end result has been known to

make people feel stuff. With 2 EP’s to their name,

The Goodonya EP (2018) and The New Farm Sharks

EP (2019), the band's unique songwriting style

could be described as 'uke emo’, ‘story shouting’, or

‘punk poems’. Smallest Horse are candid and

comical. They are serious and scared. They know

life is beautiful even though it is flawed, and

they’re going to write and sing about it.

provocative sex-comedy-indie-pop-art-rock band

who lace their sets with theatrical skits. Based in

Brisbane, Australia, this band is not about to

serve your usual Saturday night show.

Frontwomen Meg and Ella use their humour to

take the taboo and transform it into relatable

content, leaving space for the audience to laugh

at the normality and ridiculousness of modern

life. Singing sweet harmonies about feminism,

dogs, dates, naps and everything in between;

they’ll make you laugh, cry and reconsider your

place in the patriarchy.
