Message From Carlyle’s PPO Chairs:

Styvia Kyres and Georgia Michas

We would like to thank all the parents who

were able to attend our first meeting and

value their participation and opinions. We

are going to have another great year.

We understand that not everyone has the

time to physically be present to volunteer

at Carlyle, however, everyone can

participate and volunteer at our school by

baking, cooking, getting raffle tickets,

making phone calls....

We are always looking for fresh ideas for

fundraising or even as community

projects. Feel free to express your

ideas at the meetings or through an e-mail

at [email protected]. Your

input is welcomed and important. We will

keep everyone up to date via the

newsletters and e-mails. Stay tuned for all

the upcoming events. Remember that

TOGETHER WE ARE BETTER!

Outdoor Clothing

We would like to remind parents/guardians

that as the weather continues getting colder

and snow will make an appearance soon,

please ensure your child is warmly dressed,

as the children go out to play every day

during recess and lunchtime. All students must wear: warm hats, mittens/gloves,

scarves, winter jackets and snow pants must be worn at all times (snow pants

and boots are essential to play on the field!!!).

We encourage our parents/guardians to

pack an extra pair of dry socks in their

child(ren)'s schoolbag in case they have wet

socks. Students must keep their shoes in

their classes, cloakrooms or lockers in order to have a warm pair of shoes to put

on once they return from the outside.

Congratulations to Vanessa Buggé and Sajjad Mohammed Choudhury!!!

Our Cycle 3, Year 2 students at Carlyle began their school year with the unit of inquiry, “Who’s

In Charge?” The students explored how mankind functions under different forms of

government. This includes a visit to the Town Hall with their French teacher, Mme Alexandra

to meet with Mayor Roy and the councillor, Erin Kennedy of the Town of Mount Royal. To

complement their learning, Carlyle is participating in a special project initiated by Mayor Roy

from the Town of Mount Royal. Mayor Roy is once again forming a Town School Council

consisting of one representative from every grade 6 class at Carlyle, Dunrae Gardens and

Saint-Clément schools. All together, these elected school councillors will be part of the Town

School Council and work on a community-oriented project from beginning to end. On October

14th, Cycle 2 and 3 students were invited to listen to the five candidates’ platforms: Jeffrey

Wei Jie Lim, Shuta Sugisaka, Alissa Couture, Vanessa Buggé, Tram-Anh Buikhac Ngo, and Sajjad Mohammed Choudhury. Following a question period, the students had to cast

their votes using a secret ballot provided. We are proud to announce that Vanessa Buggé and Sajjad Mohammed Choudhury are the elected candidates who will be representing

Carlyle at the TMR Town School Council for 2015-2016. Congratulations! The special

swearing-in ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 11th at 4 o’clock at the Town

Hall and Vanessa and Sajjad will be sworn in as the Town School Council elected officials.

The two candidates will be attending regular meetings at the Town Hall throughout the year.

Sincerely,

Anna-Maria Borsellino & The Carlyle Team Principal

In addition to all the fabulous activities, events and programs we have for our students – we are excited to once again initiate the Carlyle Leadership Program. As in the previous years, we have introduced the program to the grade 5 and 6 students and encouraged them to apply for a leadership position. The purpose of the program is for students to develop and foster a sense of pride, respect, responsibility and leadership through working with younger students, the Carlyle staff and community members in various school activities. By integrating the themes LEAD, SOLVE and PLAY, the students will participate in several training sessions that will prepare them to become:
