Now walk along Union Way past the Loughborough Students’ Union on the right and to the Paula Radcliffe Athletics Stadium. The flame was passed to Beeston community volunteer Pat Lally on the 100m stretch 3 . The torch bearer went onto the track but you need to walk along the road and skirt the Seb Coe High Performance Athletics Centre keeping the building immediately to your right until you come to a small gate which you go through and turn left. Lord Coe graduated in Economics from the University. In October 2012 he becomes Pro-Chancellor of the University. As you walk along the path you pass the water-based hockey pitch to your left and beyond that the National Cricket Performance Centre. To your right is the Steve Backley Throw Centre, named after another alumnus and international athlete. When you reach the road turn left. The next torchbearer was a British Colleges Sport National Ambassador, Tajinder Sahota 4 . 5 Turn right at the junction and walk along University Road to just past the Library close to where dedicated community volunteer Andrew French took over the flame 5 . Instead of turning right head straight ahead past Burleigh Court on your left. Burleigh Court was the HQ for the Team GB Preparation Camp. The flame then passed to Team GB speed skater and former world record holder Jonathan Eley 6 . Head through the car park and to the barrier and then down the path to your left towards the fantastic Loughborough University Stadium where 2000 local school students watched the Olympic Torch Relay as well as the Follow the Light carnival parade. The flame was passed to Audrey Cooper, coach of the Team GB Women’s Volleyball Team in the middle of the stadium 7 . Walk along the path bearing left just after the stadium, past the beach volleyball courts and then into the Holywell car park and head straight on to the Sir Denis Rooke Building. This was where all members of Team GB came to get their kit for the 2012 Games. Here Audrey met up with members of the Team GB Ambition Group, Sir Clive Woodward, Olympic gold medal winners David Hemery, Amy Williams, Rhona Martin and Ben Hunt Davis – not forgetting the Team GB Mascot Pride 8 . Turn right and walk along the path with the lake to your left. Here Sophie Hutcheon Team GB hammer thrower who trains at Loughborough carried the torch which was handed to 12-year old James Barker from Shepshed High School close to the gate 9 . The campus bus stop is close to this point and you can return to the start point. Alternatively you can walk back, perhaps through the student village or along Ashby Road where you will pass close to the point where two University professors Ian Henry and Rachel Thomson exchanged the torch flame 10 .
