In the hallway outside of our Church
Office are two blue plastic bins. One is
marked for “Bath Size Bar Soap.” The
other is marked for “Baby Care Kits.”
There is a list of items which go into
the Baby Care Kits: light weight cotton
shirts, sleepers without feet, receiving
blankets, socks, cloth diapers, etc.
In the Education Hallway by the elevator is our Food Cart. There is a sign that
this month we are collecting items for Nokomis. There is a place to leave
Sunmart receipts and Campbell’s labels, which benefit Oak Grove. You will
see empty egg cartons, which Lynnet Ysteboe takes care of for a mission
project. There is also a box for collecting old eyeglasses for the Lions, who
forward these around the world to people in need.
In the sanctuary is our “Coin Jar for Disaster Response.” We decided to keep
the jar in the sanctuary for the next disaster. It has already been suggested
that the next time the jar is emptied it should go to the people of Moore, OK.
Some of these collections are regular and ongoing. Others change from
month to month. Make sure you ALWAYS read in this Newsletter any articles
submitted by Malvina Moe and the WELCA. These keep us updated on our
Mission collection efforts.
One does not have to be a part of WELCA in order to fill the cart or bring in
egg cartons or no longer used eyeglasses or new baby items. We all
participate in sending items to people locally and around the globe. Did you
know that every quilt sent from Pontoppidan has this label on it: “May God
wrap you in his love! Pontoppidan Quilters.”
Pontoppidan is 135 years old, and from its first year it has been a mission
oriented congregation. Everyone is invited to participate.
Matthew 25:37-40 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in
prison and visit you?’ “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

Caring For Our
Neighbors
The past few months it has been necessary to make several requests each month. This month we can focus on the needs of “Nokomis Day Care Centers” for diapers, diaper wipes, socks and underwear for toddlers. They can be placed in the “CART”. In may you were generous in your ordering of geraniums. When they arrived they were beautiful.
“Dear Jesus, Thank you for your many blessings and instill in me a grateful heart.” Amen

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
On May 15th we had the joy of seeing four faithful men (Steve Albertson, Jim Kain, Bob Davis and Del Sanders) deliver 84 Quilts, 12 Baby Care Kits, and 60 pounds of soap to the LWR semi trailer.
In addition to this, the Quilters made 9 quilts that were given to our graduates, Bethany Homes, Churches United for the Homeless and New Life Center. The Quilters also made several baby quilts that will be distributed to the YWCA, Nokomis and Churches United.
Mary Circle paid for milk for the year for three needy students at Horace Mann Elementary School.
A grateful thank you to all of the above plus Congregation members and Circle members that contributed for these projects. It couldn’t be done without you.
God bless each one of you!

On Tuesday, June 4th, we will have our Pentecost Celebration at 7:00 pm in fellowship hall. Dave Issacson will be our speaker, "The Fruits and the Gifts of Spirit". Nancy Malchert ( Tara's mother) will be our soloist.
Please join your Pontoppidan friends for learning, sharing and fellowship. Wear Red to celebrate Pentecost.
Anna Circle will be giving the devotions and offering meditation. Hope to see you there.
Pontoppidan’s Habitat for
Humanity Workday is
Thursday, August 15. We will be
finishing the floors and doing the
cabinets. We are looking for 10
volunteers for the day. In
addition the church is to provide
snacks and lunch including
drinks. To volunteer contact
Scott Spanjer at 271-9066
500,000 QUILTS!
That’s the goal of Lutheran World Relief in 2013! That means our Pont Quilters will have to make more quilts to help reach this goal. In order to do this we will need more people helping; at Pont or at home. Come to Church on a Wednesday afternoon (12:30-3:30) to see all the different things we do. Also, it would help a lot to have non-quilters (men or women) to serve our afternoon coffee break. Another way to help is to donate funds to the LWR Quilt shipping fund. It costs $2.25 to send one (1) LWR Quilt. This project is for the entire congregation. Give me a call if you have questions. Betty Thorp 235-4363
