1. Choose a date and venuePubs and social clubs are great locations for a Mighty Quiz with ready-made audiences. Or why not host it at home or at work? Once you’ve found a venue, pick a date.

2. Round up the troopsYou may have already approached your friends, family or colleagues for support in organising your event but if not, now is a good time to get people involved.

3. Shout it from the rooftopsUse the posters enclosed in this pack to promote your event or make your own using our poster builder: themightyquiz.org/tools. You can also create and share images on social media using the hashtag #TheMightyQuiz. Set up your own event on Facebook, invite your friends to come and post updates as you gather prizes and develop your challenge rounds to pique interest.

Getting started

Page 3: 1. Choose a date and venue - Alzheimer's Research UK · Choose a date and venue ... your friends to come and post updates as you gather prizes and develop your ... Nirvana – Come

4. Plan your eventMake your quiz one to remember by planning all the details that will make it a huge success. With a raft of questions, puzzles and challenges to choose from, you can make the Mighty Quiz your own. We’ve included some in this pack, but you can download more from themightyquiz.org/downloads or come up with your own!

Selling tickets for your quiz is the easiest way to fundraise. If you have 10 teams of five people, who each donate £5 to take part, you’ll raise an incredible £250!

5. Pick your props and prizesThe type of quiz you host will determine the props you need. If you decide to include our challenge rounds, check which materials are needed.

You may wish to speak to local businesses about your Mighty Quiz to see if they can donate any prizes or even sponsor your event. If you need a letter of authority, please get in touch with us.

6. Host your Mighty QuizWatch all your hard work pay off! If you have a few tickets left to sell, give your Mighty Quiz one last plug on social media. We’d love to see photos and videos from your event – share them on social media using the hashtag #TheMightyQuiz or tweet us @ARUKNews.

Let your imagination run wild and make your Mighty Quiz as challenging

or as off-the-wall as you like!

Assemble the rounds you’d like to use, add the intro sheet to the top, and you’ll have a running order for your Mighty Quiz.

Building your Mighty Quiz

Quiz RoundsWe’ve included some fun Q&A rounds in your pack – there are different music rounds depending on whether you can play music at your Mighty Quiz. You can also have a go at creating your own round using our template from themightyquiz.org/downloads.

PuzzlesEveryone loves a picture round. To make it a little more challenging, we’ve made a puzzle sheet instead that you can hand out at the start of your quiz.

ChallengesAlong with the standard quiz rounds in this pack, there are some fun challenge rounds you can include to make your quiz extra mighty! You can check out other challenges online at themightyquiz.org/downloads.

ScoringQuizmasters also need to plan when teams will swap sheets and mark their answers – a score sheet is included in your pack. We recommend scoring after each round so you can update teams with how they’re doing to encourage a little competition!

Page 5: 1. Choose a date and venue - Alzheimer's Research UK · Choose a date and venue ... your friends to come and post updates as you gather prizes and develop your ... Nirvana – Come

JokerTeams can choose one quiz round as their ‘joker’ by ticking the joker box on their answer sheet. That team’s score for the round is doubled. Each team can only play their joker once. The intro sheet also has an explanation for using the optional joker round.

Wipe outQuizmasters can also designate any standard Q&A round as a ‘wipe out’ round – tick the ‘wipe out’ box on that question sheet as a reminder. On wipe out rounds, correct answers are worth double points, blank answers get no points, but if a team get any answers wrong, they do not score any points for that round.

Page 6: 1. Choose a date and venue - Alzheimer's Research UK · Choose a date and venue ... your friends to come and post updates as you gather prizes and develop your ... Nirvana – Come

Ticket PriceFirstly, set the suggested donation for people to take part – we recommend £5 per person.

SweepstakeUse the sweepstake poster available at themightyquiz.org/downloads. Simply choose the winning number and cut off the corner of the poster. Invite your Mighty quizzers to write their name against a number and pay a donation (suggest £2 per guess).

RaffleHost a raffle with prizes donated from local businesses. See if you can get a meal for two at a local restaurant or a stay at a hotel. Smaller prizes like a bottle of wine or box of chocolates are always a winner too! You could charge £1−£5 per raffle ticket depending on the prizes.

Bake sale or pudding auctionBake some tasty treats and sell them during a break, or auction off a range of puddings! Ask your friends and family to donate their delicious homemade goods.

Collect loose changeBring a collection tin to encourage donations on the day – the bar is the perfect location if you’re hosting your Mighty Quiz in a pub.

Cheater’s fineTell teams that they’ll receive a fine if they’re caught using their phone and ask them for an extra donation when they get caught.

Fundraising TipsTurn pennies into pounds with these top tips:

Page 7: 1. Choose a date and venue - Alzheimer's Research UK · Choose a date and venue ... your friends to come and post updates as you gather prizes and develop your ... Nirvana – Come

Pay-to-play gamesYou can add these fun activities in the breaks between quiz rounds. Ask players for a donation (suggest £1) to take part and don’t forget prizes!

• £1 roll The aim of the game is to roll a coin nearest to a bottle without hitting it to win. Clearly mark the start line, with the bottle positioned about 5m away.

• Lucky balloons Blow up a range of opaque or dark balloons and place glitter in one. Number each balloon and ask people to pick a number. Pop the balloon to reveal whether they’ve won.

• Heads or tails Get everyone up and on their feet. Ask them to choose ‘heads’ (shown by putting their hands on their head) or ‘tails’ (shown by putting their hands on their bottom). The Quizmaster will toss a coin and call out the result. Those who choose the winning side remain standing. The others must sit down and have been eliminated. This continues until you have a ‘last man standing’ who is crowned the winner.

Fundraising MaterialsYou can order t-shirts, balloons, collections tins and other fundraising materials from our website: alzheimersresearchuk.org/supporter-orders.

If you’re one of our Corporate Partners, please get in touch with your ARUKcontact or Account Manager if you need more materials.
