SAT (I) Reasoning– Three sections include: Critical Reading,

Math, and Writing– Juniors should be registered to take in

March, May or June 2014 (deadline for registration is approx. 1 month before test date)

– Scores in Critical Reading and Math need to equal 1200 for competitive colleges, 1400 for highly competitive colleges

– Rising Seniors can/should retake the SATs in October, November or December of 2014

– Prep courses and review books are highly recommended (Revolution Prep, Princeton, Kaplan, private tutors + Shmoop!)

– Fee waivers are available for those who qualify

– Subject Tests (includes Literature, History, Math, Sciences, Foreign Languages)

– 2-3 are usually required for more competitive schools– Correlate with field of study (Engineering majors need math and

physics)– Students can take up to 3 SAT Subject tests on same date – 1 hour

each– Students cannot take both SAT Reasoning and SAT Subject tests

on the same day– Registration deadline is approximately 1 month before test date– Take certain subject area tests in the appropriate year

• 9th graders can take Biology in June of 9th grade• 10th graders can take World History, Chemistry & Math I in June of 10th grade• 11th graders can take Physics, U.S. History, Math I or II, Literature, or Foreign
