Shuffle all the Experience cards and place them in a face-down pile near the Experiences board. During the Upkeep Phase, draw 5 Experience cards and place them on the Experience board.

Place all Desire tokens close to the Experiences board.

2. SETUP

In order to incorporate the Experiences expansion in your games, please add the following steps during Setup:

Place the Experiences board above the game board as shown in the image below.

  Shuffle all the Kid cards and place them in a face-down pile next to the Partners pile.

Give each player a Dream board and a Cloud Token in their color.

You are now ready to start playing.

  Place the Unavailable Action token on the Plan Experience action. It will not be available for the first round. Remove it at the end of the first round.

The new Experience board introduces two new actions, Plan Experience and Dream. The new Cloud token is used to perform either of these actions. Players may also use their Hourglasses to perform these actions.

3. BOARD ACTIONS

When you perform this action, choose one of the available Experience cards on the board, check if you meet the Planning requirement and place it in front of you. Then, move all remaining Experience cards on the board to the right-most available slot and draw one new Experience card placing it on the left-most slot on the board. Finally, put a black cube on the Planning part of the card as a reminder and get the Planning Reward.

Later on during any of your turns you may perform a card action on any of your Experience cards. To do so, pay the Experience cost and receive the Experience

reward. At that time, you may also choose to pay the Extend cost and receive the Extend reward as well. As soon as you have completed this Experience, return the black cube to the supply.

Experiences do not take one of the 3 slots in front of you - there is no limit to the number of Experiences you can have.

Example: Sandra chooses to perform the Plan Experience action. She has the 4 Knowledge required for the Planning of a trip to Easter Island, so she takes the Easter Island card in front of her and gets 2 Creativity. All cards to the left of the card that was taken must now be moved one slot to the right and a new card must be drawn and placed on the left-most slot of the board.

Dream

Through the Dream action, you can set future goals and fulfill them later in the game. As time passes, desire builds up on the things you dream about.

When you perform this action, choose one of the available Project, Item, Activity, Service, Job, Partner or Experience cards on the board and place it on one of the available slots of your Dream board. Then, take the corresponding resource shown on the bottom right part of each slot from the supply.

Experience CardsThis expansion introduces a new type of cards in the game, the Experience cards. These cards are divided into two types, Trips and Happenings. Other than their thematic difference, those two types function in the exact same way within the game.

Extend Reward

When using this expansion in your game, draw Job and Partner cards even during the first round’s Upkeep Phase (ignoring the base game’s limitation of the “Teen” round). Those cards will only be available through the Dream action. You may not Start Relationship or Get Job during the first round.

Cards on your Dream board are not yet part of your life. They are however reserved by you. At any of your following turns, you may make a card in your Dream board part of your life by performing the corresponding action as if that card was still on the game board.

At the start of each Upkeep Phase, add one Desire token from the supply on each card on your Dream board. Cards have a limit of 3 Desire tokens - if there are already 3 Desire tokens on a card, do not add any more tokens on it. When you move a card from your Dream board in front of you, get 1 LTH for each Desire token on it and return those tokens to the supply.

Example: Nicole chooses to perform the Dream action using her Cloud token. She takes the Bodyguard card from the board placing it on a slot on her Dream board. By choosing to place it on the left-most slot of her Dream board, she then gets 1 Knowledge.

In the following 2 Rounds, during each Upkeep she places a Desire token on the Bodyguard.

Then, she uses the Spend action (as normal)to move the Bodyguard in front of her and gets 2 LTH (1 LTH for each Desire token on the Bodyguard).

Cards on your Dream board may never be discarded. At the end of the game, lose 1 LTH for each Desire token remaining on cards on your Dream board.

4. KIDS

This expansion also features a new card type, Kids. You may choose to include or exclude Kids from your games independently to the rest of the Experiences expansion.

When using Kids in your game, whenever you Develop a Relationship to the Raise Family level with a Partner, you may draw a card from the Kids pile. Place the Kid card in front of you close to that Partner. Then, place a black cube on L1 and receive the corresponding reward.

During each Upkeep Phase, after paying the Upkeep cost of a Partner, you may choose to have another Kid. If you do, draw another card from the Kids pile, place a black cube on L1 and receive the corresponding reward.

When playing with Kids, you may choose to Raise Family as a card action again on following turns. To do so, place an Hourglass on your Partner card and draw another card from the Kids pile. Do not pay the Raise Family cost and do not get the reward. You do however receive the Kid’s L1 reward as normal.

5. ADDITIONAL CARDS

ServiceThese cards function exactly like Items. To use them, just shuffle them in the Item-Activity pile.

The expansion also comes with additional Projects, Partners, Life Goals and Child Traits. To use them, just shuffle them in their corresponding piles of the main game.

During the Upkeep Phase, Kids advance to the next level on their own. Each level has some requirement/cost that is optional. If you choose not pay it or if you are unable to do so, you do not get the level’s reward. The Kid remains in front of you but you lose 1 LTH. You may not have Kids during Old Age.

6. FAQ

General Questions- During the first round, can I perform the Dream action to move a Job or Partner on my Dream board and on my next turn move it in front of me?- No, you may get such cards on your Dream board during the first round but you may not move them in front of you as that would require you to use the Get Job/Start Relationship actions which are unavailable during the first round.

- When discarding cards as part of a Kid’s cost, do I lose 1 STH and get 1 Stress?- Yes. When discarding cards as part of a Kid’s requirement, you must still pay the discarding penalty.

- If I Dream or Plan Experience using my Cloud token and then do the same action using an Hourglass, do I get Stress?- No. You only get Stress when you place an Hourglass on an action where you already have another Hourglass.

7. SOLO GAME

When playing solo using the Experiences expansion, the main game’s rules apply with one difference: In order to win you must have +10 LTH at the end of the game.

- If I also own the Community expansion, can I combine it with the Experiences expansion and play with both?- Even though each expansion is independent from the other, you can combine them together and play with both. Keep in mind that playing time may increase significantly.
