• National Geographic Explorer - comes in different levels for varied reading levels
• readinga-z.com - fiction and nonfiction books on different reading levels with vocabulary ideas
• Use nonfiction reading material for science/social studies content that students already have to know!

• Model context clues - do “Think-Alouds” when you are reading out loud
• Give plenty of practice opportunities
• Connect vocabulary instruction to the text through text-dependent questions
