COMPETITION GUIDELINES, RULES & REGULATIONS

Appointed Pavilion Coordinator for Putrajaya FLORIA 2013

1. Event Decoration – Dining table setting décor / Pelamin setting

The participant will need to create an innovative contemporary feel, with a dash of cultural elements, for a special celebration in a specific venue, with the choice of either, Dining table setting décor or Pelamin setting. Props are NOT provided and the set up display must be designed with water retaining material which could be maintained and presentable for the 10 days exhibition period.

• A “Title” is to be adopted and be displayed beside the design. • 70% of fresh flower and foliages, 30% of other ornaments are to be used. • The display must be staged within the booth size. • Displays need to be fully completed by 7.00pm on 20th June 2013. • Judging will commence on 21st June 2013 morning. • The judges' decision is final and no comments would be entertained. • Winners will be announced on the official opening date of 22nd June 2013. • The participants need to dismantle and clear away ALL their design and displayed materials latest by

1st July 2013, morning. 2. Water Feature Home Garden The Home Concept of Water Feature design must portray an aesthetically harmonious and naturally balanced decoration that will complement the garden environment. The design concept shall utilize flowers, plants, water feature and other materials for the creation of a beautiful home garden. All potted plants & fresh flowers must be maintained throughout the 10 days exhibition.

A “Title” is to be adopted and be displayed beside the design.

Decorate the assigned zone with 70% of softscape of fresh flowers and plants, 30% of hardscape with the accent of a WATER FEATURES.

Displays need to be fully completed by 7.00pm on 20th June.

Judging will commence on 21st June morning.

The judges' decision is final and no comments will be entertained.

Winners will be announced on the official opening on, 22nd June 2013.

The participants need to dismantle and clear away ALL their design and displayed materials on 1st July 2013, morning.

3. Orchid Wall Art

Create a contemporary floral art wall decoration using creative design and construction techniques, where the display is to be mounted on the wall panels. Condition of flowers and other materials shall be monitored and maintained to maximize its lifespan for the 10 days exhibition.

• A “Title” is to be adopted and be displayed beside the design. • 60% of fresh orchid, 30% of dried materials and 10% of other ornaments are to be used. • Staples, nails, screws or permanent fixture are allowed on the individual wall panel ONLY. • Displays need to be fully completed by 7.00pm on 20th June. • Judging will commence on 21st June morning. • The judges' decision is final and no comments will be entertained. • Winners will be announced on the official opening on, 22nd June 2013. • The participants need to dismantle and clear away ALL their design and displayed materials on

1st July 2013, morning.

4. Body Flowers – “Blooms & Petals”

Participants are required to create a piece of trendy Body Flowers as a floral wear over for a special occasion in mind. Mannequins will be provided for this competition; it can be collected from the organizer for pre -structured and other dried materials installation 3 days before the competition. Proper steps should be taken to ensure materials used are fully conditioned and stay fresh for up to 10 days throughout the entire event.


Total design composition should utilize 60% of fresh flowers materials, 40% of other dried materials and ornaments.

5. Potted Garden Design – “Orchid Harmony” The objective is to create a design impact for a specific space like in an office or at home. Participants have a choice of their own containers, pots, dish, bowl or any form of structure of any dimension in achieving a distinctive design concept. Condition of flowers and other materials shall be monitored and maintained to maximize its lifespan for the 10 days exhibition.


The base of the design should NOT exceed 600mm width.

Potted Garden MUST comprise the following: 70% of fresh material - Potted orchids with a minimum combination in 3 different genera of Orchids totalling minimum of 8 pots with one or more varieties of ornamental plants. 30% of rocks, structure and other miniature accessories are allowed.

6. Floral Art – “Second Lives remix with floral”

Participants will be challenged in using a combination of fresh flowers and any recyclable materials, transforming these into a unique floral art piece, hence giving second lives to everyday items around us. Condition of flowers and other materials shall be monitored and maintained to maximize its lifespan throughout the event.


Overall width should not exceed the width of the display panel.

Arrangement should comprise 70% of fresh materials. Artificial flowers are NOT permitted.

7. Orchid Poster Competition Create an A1 (portrait position) 594mm x 841mm poster on articles about orchid research. The design and artwork of the poster must relate to this year’s FLORIA 2013 flower theme – Orchid. Informative contents may cover any topics related to the orchid, from a scientific or horticultural perspective, as an artistically captivating beauty within nature or with elements surrounding its allure to our various senses and delight.

All posters must be submitted by 5.00pm on 10th June 2013.

A pre selection and judging of the poster’s content will be screen by the jury from the organizer.

Qualified Posters shall be displayed for final judging on 21st June morning.
