Google Classroom: How to add your Videos

Adding a movie directly to Google Classroom can be a slow process. If you attach a video to Google Classroom the program will reroute the video to your Google Drive for storage. This is a slow process, often causing errors.

This help document guides you through the process of uploading to your Google Drive first, followed by linking the video to Google Classroom.

First Create a New Folder in Google Drive to store the videos.1. In Google Drive - Click New

2. Click - Folder

3. Name the Folder - click Create4. Double Click to open the folder.

5. With the folder open Click “+New” 6. Click File Upload

7. Navigate to your movie, select and click Open

8. The movie will upload and display the progress.Large movies will be slow to uploade.

The example to the right is of an 8 minute movie being uploaded to Google Drive.

When the video is first uploaded to Google Drive, it will be in a processing mode.A red icon will appear during processing.

Above: List View

Below: Grid View

Processed videos will appear with a play button in List View or with a preview image in Grid View.

A large video will take longer to Process.

Attaching Video to Google Classroom

1. In Grid View or List View click on the video once to highlight. Double click will open the video.

2. Click on the Link icon

3. Move Slider to the right. 4. Highlight the URL to Copy by right clicking on the URL - Opton 2 on next page.

Page 5: 1. In Google Drive - Click New Folder

5. Option 2: Click Share Settings

6. Click: Copy Link, to add to Google Classroom.

7. The link is now ready to be added to an Assignment, Material or other.
