“India today is home to about 381 medical colleges that churn out about 30,000 undergraduate students a year. At any given time, there are a total of about 100,000 undergraduate medical students in India. An urgent need was felt to establish a be-all-and-end-all umbrella organization for all medical students in India. Hence, we came forward with the establishment of the Indian Medical Students' Association.”

Our Mission Statement: “To endow a common platform for representation to all the Medical Students of the Nation irrespective of the University they study in, grades, age, sex, caste, and region they belong to.”

Aims & Objectives of IMA - SW: To organize Annual Medical Conventions and other Medical conferences. To promote the interest and welfare of medical students with support from the experienced achievers of medical field. To empower students with soft skills like management, leadership, and conflict management at a young age to ease the transition from student-doctors to medical-professionals. To promote understanding in medical and health problems as well as to share experiences in solving them To uphold humanitarian ideals and medical ethics To create National as well as International contacts among Medical Students and hence, increase networking and encourage cooperation amongst the future doctors. To foster unity and promote profound inter-personal relationships amongst its members To promote research programmes and attitude among medical students. To carry out nationwide mass health campaigns related to health problems like epidemics and natural calamities of the Nation To promote and encourage medical youth to fulfil their duties towards Society by providing Social Service. Short Outline for formation of IMA-SW

Indian Medical Association (IMA), the oldest & largest parent organisation of the Medical Fraternity in India endorsed Indian Medical Students’ Association (IMSA) as its official student body in the month of April,’14. IMSA an unique organisation lead by Dr. Manish Ch Prabhakar and his team for last 2 year created an era of revolution not only just by promoting research insights among the young generation, conferences, workshop etc but they made the medicos around the country to fight for their rights and make sure their voices are heard. In the historic event which occurred during KARMIC in month of April , ‘14 many small organisation from different part of the country joined it to form the largest Student Body in Indian Scenario.

At that Time IMSA submitted its official website, membership and all the relevant details to the new body lead by the veteran Dr. Ankit Kr Garg.

ANNUAL REPORT Events Conducted April 2014KARMIC (Kolkata Annual Research and Medical International Research Congress) – At Kempogowda Institute Of Medical Sciences,Bangalore,Karnataka. KARMIC-2014 is one of the biggest events of the medical students in India. It's an attempt by the Indian Medical Students' Association to act as a connecting link between the routine curriculum of medical education and the recent advances of medical science. The Congress aims to be a cobweb of the upcoming pioneers of medical science of the country. It also aims to bring together the Indian and the Global Medical students’ fraternity on a common stage to bridge the gap by exchange of knowledge and experiences.

Nation-wide Initiatives and Report

1. Membership Drive During the formation of organization IMSA submitted their 36800 free member existing facebook group, today which inflated and reached upto 58000. They also submitted their 300 premium member with a running Facebook page with 46000 likes. All the financial clarity with expenditure was submitted when they joined the organization. After formation we managed to get 1000 members from Maharashtra, TN , AP, Punjab.

IMASW LIFE LINE- Donate Blood Save Life

Very Successful this year along with Karnataka Hemophilia Society.

Data base of medical students saved 53 hemophiliacs life in South Karnataka

Maharshtra State Branch also took the initiative.

Apart from Doctors day Blood Donation, we were able to Contribute 2569 unit of blood across the country.
