Dear Dr xxx,
Thank you for agreeing to be a participant in this review panel. In order to submit your writtenreviews electronically, you will need to to log onto the NIH eRA web site with a user ID andpassword. To establish that user ID and password, we have set up a special URL (address on theInternet) which is unique to you. To insure confidentiality and security, we have also sent you aPersonal Identifier Number (PIN) by US Postal mail. These two unique pieces of indentificationare required to establish an NIH eRA account for critique submission.
To establish your account, you must:
(1) Wait for your PIN to arrive by US Postal mail. (If you do not recieve a PIN within 1 week ofthis email please contact [email protected].
(2) Open your web browser (Netscape 4.x or above, I.E. 5.x or above) and go to the URLhttps://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. (You can copy and paste this address into the “Location” window ofyour browser and press “Enter”).
(3) Follow the instructions on the screen to select your user ID, password, and passwordreminder question.
If you have questions or problems in setting up your account, please call the NIH eRA help deskat 1-888-xxx-xxxx.

PIN LetterNeal – draft sample letter to Reviewers (to be faxed or mailed) to provide them with their PIN (person_id) for registration.
In order for you to log on to the Internet Assisted Review Module for the first time and establish your personal password, you will need a Personal Identification Number (PIN). This is to be used only on the first occasion that you access the system and create your own personal USER NAME and PASSWORD.
YOUR PIN IS AS FOLLOWS:_____________________
Please keep your PIN in a safe place until you have initially logged on to the system and established your personal USER NAME and PASSWORD. For subsequent system access you will use these latter user name and password, so generate ones that are easily remember by you. In the event you forget your USER NAME and PASSWORD, please call your SRA.
