STEP 1:Read and Analyze the Questions1. Read each question and paraphrase.2. Identify the skill the question is asking

you to use (look at your list of skills).3. Decide what you need to read in order

answer the question (none, all, or part of one of both texts).

4. Decide whether or not the question is Explicit (on the surface) or Inferential (under the surface).

using the Three Steps (go back to slides 8-10 to review the steps)
