Department Activities Keeping in mind the growing needs of the nation we, the department of EIE are all set to

groom efficient and dedicated engineers who are competent at the global level. Our engineers

are bred in such a way that they evolve into individuals of a completely different cadre and

are ready to face the toughest of competitions undauntedly. Apart from the academic

routines, we also have myriad activities that promote a deep understanding and practical

acquaintance of the subject. Regular workshops, seminars and symposiums are conducted to

keep the staff and students on their toes about the latest in the tech-world. Mentioned below

are some of the activities of our department since April 2016.

Staff Activities: Most of our staff members are doing research work and they actively take part in presenting them in

various National/International journals and conferences, conducted in different parts of the world.

CENTRE FOR TRAINING AND PLACEMENT

12 days Placement Orientation Program and other activities

The Centre for Training and Placement has conducted Aptitude crash course for

second year students by Vista Mind. Aptitude crash course was conducted in two phases, first

phase in the third semester & second phase in the fourth semester. Placement orientation

program-II (POP II) was conducted for the final year students by Vista Mind and trained

them on soft skills, quantitative aptitude skills etc., to prepare them for placement

recruitments. Also POP III, a company specific training programme was conducted by

SMART to crack Cognizant, Infosys Wipro test pattern.

The Centre for Training & Placement conducted Online aptitude assessment tests on

every week for all the students through the skill rack portal.

COMMUNICATION SKILL ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

Centre for Training and

Placement of St Joseph’s is largely

responsible and committed towards

the identification and catering to the

need of training of students so that

they are able to develop a good

personality; and assist them to find

right job and help them place in right

companies before they pass out. We realize that in order to convert a raw student in to

employable graduate, several behavioural attributes need to be addressed in addition to the

development of technical skills. Some of the behavioural attributes are good communication

skills, developing positive attitude towards work, and understanding of moral and ethical

values.

Every academic year, our college has taken an initiative to improve the

communication skill of the students by organizing 48 hrs Communication skill enhancement

program. The aim of this program is to empower our students to take up the future campus

recruitment with confidence. All the first year students are evaluated for communication

skill by the expert committee. Based on the evaluation students are categorized into three

levels and students are given appropriate training. This communication enhancement

program is conducted by corporate trainers from Strides, Winspire, Vistamind etc.

NGO Activities:(Non-Governmental Organization) There are numerous orphanages and old age homes in

our society. Our visionary Director yearns for extending a

supporting hand to these needy persons. Also, he wanted to

invoke the service mind of our students by encouraging visits

to orphanages, old age homes and homes for CP children

(children with Cerebral Palsy which causes physical

disability in human development chiefly in vain areas of body movement). About 80 orphanages, 10

old age homes and 8 homes for CP children have been visited this semester. NGO activities bring out

the hidden potentials of young minds to serve the needy and to make them responsible citizens. They

are exposed to downtrodden lifestyle which is a need of the hour for our country’s development. Our

college offers special lunch (Both Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian with sweets, savories and ice

creams) to all the inmates of orphanages, old age homes and homes for CP children. Students are

provided with transport facilities to visit the homes on activity Saturdays. All the students, from First

year to Final year, both UG and PG enthusiastically participated and mingled with inmates of home

and spent the daytime with them and shared their happiness. They also spent their pocket money in

useful manner by offering the needy things like rice bags, groceries, toys, clothes, pillows etc. for the

inmates.

We wish to continue the service forever. Our Department Students Visited 21 Orphanages 6 Old Age Homes and 1 CP children’s Home.

EICON Activities

(EIE Department Club Activities) Knowing the importance of bringing out the hidden talents by means of co-

curricular activities, technical competitions were conducted for our students. Students

actively participated in the various activities, conducted separately for II year, III year and IV

year students.

Education goes well beyond the coursework. Co-curricular activities can form a vital

part of your experience, thereby creating unique opportunities for portraying every students’ individual talents and also help them learn better. Various hands-on workshops for students

of II Year, III Year were conducted with active participation from them.

ISA STUDENT ACTIVITES

As part of the International society of Automation, students were given an opportunity

to be exposed to knowing the fundamentals of programming a Robot. Our students certainly

gained knowledge about it. Students had practical sessions comprising of all fundamentals of

the software used for programming a Robot. The trainers who conducted the course were

highly expertise in the robotics field which definitely met our expectations. Interested

students gained knowledge and confidence on working with robots as a project as well.

Also our students were trained in designing circuits for various applications as part of

a workshop on embedded system design. Students were given hands-on training and also

rewarded prizes for their good involvement in the sessions. sIt was really interesting and an
