    ORGANS OF SPEECH/STAGES OF THE SPEAKING PROCESS

    Breathing Stage diaphragm, lungs (inhalation,

    exhalation)Phonation Stage - voice produced in speaking as the

    expiratory air streams from the lungs goes up through

    the trachea or windpipe to larynx

    Resonation Stage voice amplification and

    modification (nasal and oral pharynx)

    Articulation Stage - Tone produced in the larynx ischanged into specific sounds; result of movement of

    articulators (lower jaw, lower lip, velum, uvula) and the

    points of articulation (upper lip, upper teeth, upper

    alveolar ridge, hard and soft palate)

    3.Definition of conversation. Cite things toremember as to the following components:

    participants, purpose/aim, and focus

    4.Enumerate Tips for engaging in conversation5.Define group communication.

    Note: This is an individual work. Answers must be written

    in a whole sheet of paper.

    References must be provided.
