•2 Jesus, the Son of God, powerfully leads the

forces of good with love, courage, wisdom, kindness, patience, integrity, gentleness, serenity, sympathy, compassion, tact and geniality. His leadership style is one of concern and fair play for even His worst enemies. He is worthy of our worship for He is our Creator and Redeemer.

•3 Someone, on the other hand, powerfully

leads the forces of evil in relentless, devastating assaults upon Jesus and His people. That someone, according to the book of Revelation, is the devil and satan. As a leader he is militant, venomous, heartless, hateful and unscrupulous. Yet, incredible as it may seem, he also asks for our worship.

2. Where did the devil come from?

• Rev. 12:7-9• “And there was war in Heaven:

Michael and His angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels. And prevailed not; neither was their place found anymore in Heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the devil, and satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

See Luke 10:18

3. Why did he leave heaven?

• See Revelation 12:7 - 9

• He was cast out because he sinned.

• 2 Peter 2:4

• “For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and

delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgement”.

Page 8: 1 Revelation Seminars: Lesson # 3 A brief review of the book of Revelation quickly reveals several crucial points:A brief review of the book of Revelation

4. Who were cast out with satan?• Rev. 12:7-10: Answer: His angels.• 5. How many angels were cast out?• Rev. 12:3,4,7-9: Answer: One third of the

total that was in Heaven.

• Note: Other passages in the Bible comment on this subject: Job 38:7 says the morning stars sang together at Creation. Rev. 12:3 & 4 shows one third fell with satan. 2 Peter 2:4 confirms that God did not spare the angels who sinned. And Jude 6 confirms the angels did fall. Satan has incredible power to deceive and convince. We must never forget that staying close to Jesus is our only safety.

6. How did satan and His Angels 6. How did satan and His Angels Originate?Originate?

• Colossians 1:16• “For by Him were all

things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things and by Him all things consist.”

Page 10: 1 Revelation Seminars: Lesson # 3 A brief review of the book of Revelation quickly reveals several crucial points:A brief review of the book of Revelation

6. How did satan originate?

• Note: Since Jesus created everything, He also created the angel who introduced sin into the Universe. However, Jesus did not create satan – satan is the being that Lucifer was transformed into when he CHOSE to SIN. How it must have torn the heart of Jesus to see rebellion develop in this great and beautiful angel till it separated him from God. So it is today. Sin always brings separation, heartache, sorrow and woe. But the God who is love (1 John 4:8,16) gives all His creatures the POWER OF CHOICE. Without that there is no REAL LOVE!

It boggles my mind! How could a created being want to be God? Sin is indeed a mystery.

Page 12: 1 Revelation Seminars: Lesson # 3 A brief review of the book of Revelation quickly reveals several crucial points:A brief review of the book of Revelation

12

• Note: • Lucifer wanted to rise above and rule

over others, even God; Jesus, by contrast, took the humble form of man

and became a servant.• (If we find ourselves speaking too often about ME, MYSELF and I, we

had better be careful … that’s the Lucifer mentality! Lucifer had an “I”

problem!)
