Page 3: 1 samuel 2a Hannah's Song of Praise and Thanksgiving

1 Samuel 2 1a And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoicethrejoiceth in the Lord,

3

She isn't crying and moaning;

She is rejoicing and praising God.

She looked beyond the situationsituation, and worshipped the worshipped the

Giver of all goodGiver of all good.

Page 4: 1 samuel 2a Hannah's Song of Praise and Thanksgiving

She knows that she will probably only see Samuel once a year, but she is thankful for that much.

If not for the grace of Godgrace of God, she would have no son to see.

4

Too many people count their troublestroubles and disappointmentsdisappointments, but forgetforget their blessings.

Her ability to bear childrenbear children was granted by God.

Her positionposition in the home was exaltedexalted by God's grace.

1c … my mouth is enlargedenlarged over mine enemies (Peninnah); because I rejoicerejoice in Thy salvation (deliverance).

Peninnah was cruelcruel to Hannah, tauntingtaunting her because she was barren.

Now Hannah's rejoicing is greateris greater than Peninnah's mockings had been.

Page 7: 1 samuel 2a Hannah's Song of Praise and Thanksgiving

2 There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside Thee: neither is there any RockRock like our God.

8

We don't givedon't give this kind of praise unto God for His benefitHis benefit; God doesn't need His ego stroked.

We give praise to God that we may rememberremember from whencefrom whence comes our help.

It is to our own benefitown benefit to praise God.

3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of Knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed.

9

Hannah is directing this toward PenninahPenninah.

The arrogantarrogant had been brought low.

Page 10: 1 samuel 2a Hannah's Song of Praise and Thanksgiving

4 The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. 5 They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barrenbarren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.

10

When the God of all Knowledge weighs out blessingsweighs out blessings, He tips the scales in favor of the righteousrighteous.

If someone is mean to you, leave itleave it in God's Hand.

When God wreaks vengeancewreaks vengeance, He does it good!

11

God not onlynot only brings down the arrogant;

He raises up the downtroddendowntrodden.

Penninah was meanmean to Hannah, but Hannah is on topon top now.

She is both the beloved wifebeloved wife, and mothermother of her husband's children.

6 The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: He bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. 7 The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: He bringeth low, and lifteth up. 8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and He hath set the world upon them.

You will live as long as God intendsGod intends for

you to live.

We should take caretake care of our bodies; God gave us wisdomwisdom to do so.

But not because we want to live foreverlive forever.

Because we are the templetemple of God.

The Lord maketh poor and maketh rich; He bringeth low and raiseth up. V7

14

If God has made it our lot in life to be poorto be poor, we are instructed to be contentbe content in that state.

But don't make yourself poor through lazinesslaziness and wastewaste.

If God has given us richesgiven us riches, we are instructed to share our abundanceabundance with the poor.

9 He will keep the feet of His saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

16

The wicked strivestrive for wealth, power, fame, and may gain all that for a timefor a time.

But the day is coming when all that they have laid up, will be givengiven to the godly.

No man can truly be successfultruly be successful without the blessingsblessings of God upon his life.

What good is a mansion, if you live in it by yourself?

What good is fame if you end up lonely and forgotten;

If you die in your own arms.
