• Broadening of the Working With Children Check to include certain new groups as a result of the Wood Inquiry

WWCC FUNCTIONS TRANSFERRED FROM DSR TO CCYP
• NSW Sport and Recreation have completed their mail out informing their Registered Employers of the transfer.
• WWCC Guidelines reflect transfer changes in the Approved Screening Agency details table (Table 8).

CHANGES FOR CERTAIN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

-Volunteers working with an agency, who mentor disadvantaged children in a program involving family-like relationships
(eg Aunties and Uncles, or Big Brother, Big Sister Programs)
-Mentoring programs that do not target disadvantaged children
-Mentoring programs that are short term and supervised
-Informal mentoring without an organisation or program
-Mentoring that does not foster family-like relationships
-Parents of children involved in a group activity
-Volunteer roles that do not mentor (eg supervisory responsibilities)
Volunteers providing personal care for disabled children, involving intimate contact, (eg bathing, dressing or toileting disabled children)
-Permanent or temporary disability
-Disability Services
-Roles that specifically require personal care
-General services where a disabled child may participate without special support
-Support for children with a short term illness (eg Broken Bone)
-Helping a child in an emergency one-off situation
-Work with children who do not have a disability
-Roles where personal care is not a core duty

V/S DECLARATION CHANGES• VOLUNTEER/STUDENT DECLARATION requires more
personal data from the volunteer/student.• 100 Points ID is recommended but not mandatory.• CCYP undertaking targeted audits to make sure the
volunteer/student has signed the declaration truthfully.• Auditing of these declarations is now a part of the
Commission’s new role.• CCYP will audit a few thousand Declarations each year.• Audits only possible if we can verify signatory's ID and
there is sufficient data to do a criminal records check.

ONLINE FORMS FOR BACKGROUND CHECKING
The new forms are designed for filling in online;
then signing, and sending to the Commission.
You can still print off the new forms for people to
fill in by hand.
New forms are better and easier to use, but not
Compulsory as yet.

• The procedure for submitting requests is to:
• Complete the ‘ Request coversheet’ supplied with:– The first page of Applicant Declaration and Consent
• We encourage that online versions be submitted whenever possible.

FLEXIBILITY WITH NEW ONLINE SYSTEMS
• The new forms are designed to be filled in online; then signed and forwarded to the Commission.
• If preferred, Employers will be able to print off forms to fill in by hand.
• Old version of forms will still be accepted for a transition period.

REVIEWED GUIDELINES
• The new guidelines are designed to be user friendly, easily referenced and set out in FAQ style.
• A sequential guide for undertaking the various processes of the Working With Children Check.

RELEVANT EMPLOYMENT PROCEEDINGS NOTIFICATION AND SUMMARY form
• Form that assist employers in determining what matters to report to CCYP.
• Employers don’t need to determine the category of notification anymore: only to provide the required information to the Commission.
• Employers get more guidance on what is reportable, and on what information they need to provide to make a notification.
