William Shakespeare was born in 1564 and grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon. He went to the King’s New School while his Dad was mayor. He was the third child of seven children and the oldest boy.

He married Anne Hathaway in 1582 when he was 18 and she was 26. They had three children. She lived in Stratford-upon-Avon while he lived in London.

Shakespeare joined the Lord Chamberlain’s company in 1590 and became part owner of the Globe Theatre.

He died on his birthday in 1616 and his plays were not published until 1622.In 1558 Queen Elizabeth I was crowned after both her brother and sister died on the throne. She returned the country to the Church of England and barred Catholics from existing.

The first world map was created in 1568 and then the potato was introduced in around 1570. Science becomes its own theory and decimals are introduced into maths (as well as algebra *yuck*) Scientists were killed in 1597 because they went ‘against God’.

Because Elizabeth killed her sister, her brother-in-law declared war on England. England won in 1588. She died in 1603 and her cousin, King James of Scotland becomes King of England. The gunpowder plot in 1605 was stopped before parliament was blown up.

In 1620 some Christians left for the Americas.
