PRELUDE Robert Aaron

CALL TO WORSHIP This Is The Day

5 May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you.

6 The land yields its harvest; God, our God, blesses us.

7 May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.

(Psalm 67:5-7) 11

Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness

looks down from heaven.

3

12 The Lord will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its har-

vest. 13

Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his

steps.

(Psalm 85:11-13) 36

there he brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they

could settle. 37

They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a

fruitful harvest; 38

he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and he did not let

their herds diminish.

(Psalm 107:36-38)

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS

In the name of the Father, and of the † Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspi-ration of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You and worthily magnify Your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Therefore, let us confess our sins in the presence of God and of one another.

Silence is kept for reflection.

Most merciful God, we confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways, to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.

In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for His sake God forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minis-ter of the church of Christ, and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the † Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

GREETING

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Let us pray…

Almighty God, You crown the fields with your blessing and permit us to gather in the fruits of the earth. As stewards of your creation, may we receive your gifts in humble thankfulness and share your bounty with those in need; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, now and forever. Amen.

22 The Lord said to Moses, 23

“Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: 24 “‘“The Lord bless you

and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you

and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you

and give you peace.”’ 27

“So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

CHOIR ANTHEM The Lord Bless You And Keep You

APOSTLE’S CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION Together let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs.

a brief silence

At this Harvest Festival we rejoice in your goodness to us. We pray for those for whom waiting for harvest is a time of tension and anxiety; we pray for those whose land is stolen or exploited, and we pray for those whose land is ripped apart by war. As you provided for your people wandering in the desert, so meet the needs of all who are hungry and homeless. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

7

At this Harvest Festival your people of Israel built shelters to remember your salvation from Egypt and the hope that is still to come. Grant that both our homes and our church may be places where we remember your salvation in Jesus, and grow to be all that you want us to be. We pray for those at this time whose homes know hurt, sadness, poverty or betrayal. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

At this Harvest Festival we know that we rely on you for all that we have and all that we will be. Teach us never to take your gifts for granted nor to turn those gifts into possessions. Grant us the grace to be generous with all you have given to us: our time, talents and our treasures. We pray for those who are finding it hard to trust at this time or who are in difficult circumstances. Especially we pray for the sick, those who morn the loss of loved ones, and all those whose names we lift up to you, either out loud or silently in our hearts. (Pause for silent or spoken prayer peti-tions……). Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Into your hands we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PEACE

The peace of Christ be with you always. And also with you.

OFFERING The offering is gathered for the mission of the church, including the care of those in need. If you are visiting with us, please feel free to pass the offering plate, you are our guest.

GREAT THANKSGIVING

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give Him thanks and praise.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
