10 common mistakes made when Email Marketing1. Following up on Click reports Instead, you should be using lead scoring to identify reader patterns across
both your Email and your Website so that you can see the bigger picture.
2. Rushing the proof reading process Read, read and read again, then send your Email to somebody else
before sending it out. You’ll be amazed what you can miss from a simple typo
to getting the message completely wrong. 3. Not sending a test Email This is essential to manually check all of your links - especially the Unsubscribe!
4. Forgetting your manners Your first Email to a reader should always be a Welcome one,
telling them when and what you will be sending them.5. Using generic Email addresses Sending your Emails from a generic address will redu ce
your open rate - info@, enquiries@, etc… Which would
you open first: dave@ or hello@? 6. Missing a Call to Action Always include a Call to Action e.g. ‘Read More’, ‘Call’,
‘Click HERE’. Without this how does your reader know
what you want them to do?7. Skipping the Pre-Sending Checks Pre-sending SPAM checks can be the difference between
going straight to the SPAM Folder and getting an enquiry.8. OVERLOADING!!! Beware of including too much info and graphics - instead
keep it simple and allow your reader to focus on the Call to Action.
9. Writing a verrry long Subject Line which is way
toooo descriptive and tells your reader everything
they think they need to know So they won’t need to open your Email! 10. Not bothering with Landing Pages
Landing Pages with targeted information and a Call to Action
can increase your conversion rates and drive traffic into
your sales funnel.
