Drawing of the Permanent Posterior Teeth

• The five aspects of each tooth are drawn on graph paper. Every measurement will be 4 times that of the natural tooth. The page will be divided into 4equal rectangular for the buccal, lingual ,mesial &distal surfaces .A small square is drawn for the occlusal aspect.

•The mesial& distal outlinesare slightly concave .•The mesial contact area is convex and is located at the middle third just occlusal to the crown midway 34/2 -1=16 •The distal contact area is convex and is located at the junction of the occlusal &middle thirds ( 11mm from occlusal surface, 34/3).•The mesial cusp slope is longer than the distal one.•The lingual cusp is shorterby 4mm and narrowerthan the buccal one.•The cusp tips are sharp and slightly distal to the central line

•The maximum convexity buccally is located at ¼ of the crown length( 8.5 m )and lingually at crown midway( 34-4/2 = 15m ).• The lingual cusp is shorter by 4m than the buccal one.• The buccal& lingual cusp tips are apart by less than the neck thickness 32-2= 30m.• The buccal cusp tip is at one line with the apex of the buccal root.• The lingual cusp tip is at one line with the outer surface of the lingual cusp.
