Share with us what is A & Mc...In short, Armitage & McMillan is a men's clothing and lifestyle store. We like to think of it as a curated menswear shop, a men's store that is focused on bringing well made, detail focused men's clothing styles and brands to Denver.

The best business advice you have ever received...Trust your gut! I have worked with a few business mentors over the years, especially as I was writing the business plan for Armitage & McMillan (Score.org mentors were an amazing resource), they have all given me great advice and direction but I always remember to trust my intuition as well, and I do my best to blend that with the guidance that they give.

What does it mean to be part of the LoHi community...It's an exciting community to be a part of. I first lived in LoHi in 2004 and it has always been going through some sort of evolution and change, today is no different. It's exciting to be a member of a community that has so much going on.

The most exciting part about owning my own business...There is nothing like being your own boss. Darin and I have always had a great work ethic and have worked extremely hard for other businesses over the years, it feels great to be putting all that hard work into growing our own business. It's exciting to feel like we are building something of our own.

Insiders tip, fall trends?I'm afraid that my knowledge of fall trends is limited to the menswear world. So, in menswear at least, you're going to see a lot of 70's inspired military and moun-taineering pieces, things like 70s style down puffer jackets (even with a 70s-like color palette) and CPO military wool shirt/jackets with re-worked, more modern fits.

What inspired you to create the brand and why Platte Street...For the last several years Darin and I both worked in menswear, Darin as a buyer for the Brooklyn based shop, Smith+Butler, and as a vintage and antiques buyer for The Brooklyn Circus, and myself as the Operations Manager for UNIS New York. While at our respective jobs, we worked with a lot of stores in a lot of cities that are similar to Armitage & McMillan, but there was nothing like it in Denver. We both had amazing memo-ries of our time in Denver so it was a no-brain-er for Darin and I start planning to come back to Denver and open our own store.

We chose to open on Platte Street for two reasons, firstly because this neighborhood has such an awesome feel to it. We have the park and the river and the Highlands Bridge, all things that give this neighborhood a great feeling of community and make it a place where people come to hang out and enjoy the area, at least I think so.

And secondly, we chose Platte Street because of the Union Station development project. Darin and I knew that the excitement around Union Station and Riverfront Park would have to spill over into LoHi and Platte Street and that's perfect for business. 

Favorite exclusive brands that we carry:Most of the brands that we stock are brands that aren't available anywhere else in Denver (or Colorado for that matter), I'd say the few that we are most excited about are UNIS New York (I learned a lot while working with UNIS so it felt great to be the one to bring the brand to CO), Steven Alan (such a classic made in the USA brand) and Saturdays Surf NYC (a brand built around lifestyle, a perfect fit for the Denver guy).
