to receiver who decodes it. The receiver then gives

feedback to the sender The sender then has option

to respond to the feedback.

Blogging is a good way to let other people see your views and opinions on topics that you believe are important.

Reading other people’s blogs is an excellent way to keep up to date on current affairs.

It’s also a good way to control how you are represented on the Internet.

Getting to know the people in your field is a very influential way to gain advice and connections.

Writing a News Release

The purpose of the News Release is to distribute information to the mass media.

When writing a news release use: The Inverted Pyramid with the most important facts of the story

present in the first paragraph.

Public Opinion

The sum of individual opinions on an issue affecting those individuals.

Collective expression of opinion of many individuals bound into a group by common aims, aspirations, needs, and ideals.

Opinion does not remain aroused for a long period of time unless people feel their self interest is involved or opinion is sustained by events.

Writing for Clarity

Use symbols, acronyms, and slogans.

– Quickly conceptualizes an idea and travels through extended lines of communications

Avoid jargon– Interferes with the message

and impedes the receiver’s ability to understand it.

Avoid clichés and hype words– Highly charged words with

connotative meanings can pose problems and can seriously undermine the message.
