10 Ways to Optimize

Performance of Minecraft Game

Verify Minimum System Requirements

Your computer must meet the minimum system requirements in order to play the game efficiently. The ReadMe file contains detailed information about the required hardware and software components.

• Operating System: Windows 7/ Vista/ XP

• Processor: Min 1.4 GHz; Recommended 2 GHz (Single Core)

• Graphics Card: 512 MB

• HDD Space: 1 GB

• RAM: 2 GB

Enable Vertical Sync

Go to the NVIDIA Control Panel and enable the Vertical Sync feature. This will make significant improvement in the game performance.

1. Exit the Minecraft completely.

2. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.

3. Click “Manage 3D Settings” link on the left side panel.

4. Click Program Settings.

Download Optimizer Utility

This is the most important system optimization technique. With Reginout, all things are done automatically.

1. Download Reginout System Utilities: www.reginout.com

2. Install and run the program.

3. Defrag your System Registry, fix glitches in your system.

Enable Vertical Sync

5. Click the Add button.

6. Browse and add the following file:

C:\Program Files\Java\Jre6\Bin\JAVAW.EXE

7. Click OK.

8. Select “JavaW.exe” in the drop down box.

Enable Vertical Sync

9. Change the following settings:

• Vertical Sync: Enabled

• Triple Buffering: Enabled

10. Click the Apply button to save the settings.

Update Java Runtime Environment

Improve your gaming experience by updating Java Runtime Environment to the latest version available online. The steps are outlined below:

1. Exit Minecraft as it uses Java files. When the game runs the files are in use and cannot be processed.

2. Visit the official website of Java and download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment.

Change Java Process Priority

Go to the Task Manager. Change the Java process priority settings. Set the process priority to high.

1. Open the game and minimize it. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete simultaneously.

2. Click “Open Task Manager”.

3. Click the Processes tab. Right click Java.exe, select Set Priority | High.

4. Exit Task Manager.

Change Graphics Settings

Customize the game settings related to the graphics. By properly configuring the graphics settings you can improve the speed and fix bugs/ freezes.

1. Open the game. Start the gameplay. Press Esc.

2. Select Options. Select Video Settings. Optimize the settings related to the brightness, normal GUI scale.

3. Turn off the Clouds. Maximize the FPS performance.

4. Save the settings, exit.

Set Windows Settings for Best Performance

The Windows settings can either be optimized for best performance or best appearance. Set the former to improve your gaming experience.

1. Right click the My Computer icon. Select Properties.

2. Click “Advanced system settings” link. Click the Advanced tab. Click Settings button under Performance.

3. Select the option named “Adjust for best performance” under Visual Effects tab. Click Apply | OK | Apply | OK.

Maximize Hardware Acceleration Level

The Hardware Acceleration uses computer hardware to make different processes quicker. Maximize your hardware acceleration as below:

1. Click the Start button. Click Control Panel.

2. Click Appearance and Personalization | Display.

3. Click “Change display settings” link.

4. Click Advanced Settings.

6. Click the Troubleshoot tab.

7. Click Change settings button.

8. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to full.

9. Click OK | OK.

Note:

• If you cannot see the Troubleshoot tab or a slider for hardware acceleration, it means your computer does not support it. It may be possible that you do not have a graphics card installed.

Clear Bin Folder Contents

Bin folder is located in the Minecraft game installation directory. Go to the Bin folder and delete its content. We assume that the Bin folder contents are corrupted. It is safe to delete them as new files will be automatically created.

1. Exit the game. If the game is running, the Bin folder contents cannot be deleted.

2. Double click the My Computer icon.

3. Open the following location: C:\Program Files\Minecraft\Bin

4. Select all the files and move them to the Recycle Bin.

Check Driver Updates

With Device Manager, check for driver updates. Install any new updates found.

1. Click the Start button. Type “Device Manager” in the Search Box.

2. Press ENTER.

3. The Device Manager will open.

4. Expand the top root entry, right click your Display Adapter and select “Update driver software” option. After successful completion, repeat the steps for other devices such as Network Device, and so on.

Turn Off Security Software

To avoid conflicts with the real-time feature of your Antivirus, turn it off temporarily. When you disable an antivirus, you’re prompted to select a time period- for example- disable for half an hour, an hour or until you restart your computer.
