100 Pinch Pots Project

Celebration of the Arts 2015

1st and 2nd graders and families

Get a clay and a paper from the supply table.

Bring your clay and paper to a work table.Work tables have supply boxes on them.

Write your name and grade. The pen is in the supply box.

Pinch a smaller piece off of the clay

You have two pieces of clay. One should be bigger.

Use your hands to roll the large piece of clay into a ball.

Stick your thumb deep into the ball to make a hole.

Use your fingers to pinch the clay.Go around in a circle.

This will make your hole bigger.

Now use the smaller piece of clay to add some other parts.

• Use your imagination to think of something fun to turn your clay into

• Pottery, Animals, monsters, anything your mind can create!

Score your pieces and the place you are going to attach it to on the pot.

Scoring is making texture marks on your clay. Up and down. Left and right.

Add the slip to the pieces you are going to attach.

Slip is clay and water. It holds the clay together. If you do not use slip the pieces will fall off once they have dried.

Spread the slip on the piece of clay.Like buttering your bread.

Push the two pieces together with some force. This will make sure they

don’t fall off.

Go to the supply table. Put your number on the back with a metal

stamp.
