We work with seed growers in the Pacific Northwest who actively select varieties to thrive in its unique conditions.

In our breeding program we have developed unique organic varieties and collaborate with public and independent breeders in the NW including Wild Garden Seeds, the Organic Seed Alliance, and the breeding program at Oregon State University.

We have a NW Sales and Product Development Associate, Ada Snyder, who is located in Mt. Vernon, WA and provides resources and support to our customers in Washington and Oregon.

Natural Sweet XR F1 Sweet Corn

Red Carpet F1 Onion

A Few of Our Favorite Varieties for the Pacific Northwest

Natural Sweet XR F1 Sweet Corn is an organic supersweet with improved sweetness and tenderness. Vigorous plants germinate well in the early season cool temperatures of the PNW and are highly resistant to Common Rust.

Dazzling Blue Kale was bred by Hank Keogh of Aroca Seed Farm and produced in partnership with Wild Garden Seed in Oregon. Excellent cold tolerance and a unique array of colors.

Westlander Kale produces large, curly green leaves with tender texture on a midsized plant. Very cold tolerant and suitable for overwintering.

Takrima Leek is a beautiful cool-weather leek, developed to produce reliable stalks with virtually no bulbs. Highly self-blanching even without hilling.

Newham Lettuce has it all: several disease resistances, gorgeous color, and sweet flavor. This crispy Little Gem impressed us in field trials by performing well all year round in coastal regions like the PNW. Pairs well with Rhazes and Breen.

Eazyleaf Lettuces Buckley, Ezrilla, Brentwood, Stanford and Hampton were standouts in our PNW trials. Holding well in the field, these uniform one-cut ready type lettuces allow growers to harvest them as cut-and-come again if desired. Successful growth from spring through summer, and in high tunnel production going into the cooler seasons. Reliable, upright heads carry a good disease package and produce higher yields than baby salad mixes.

Red Carpet F1 Onion is a beauty both in the field and on the plate. A Long day variety, Red Carpet produces midsize bulbs early which store extremely well. An improvement over Red Wing, especially impressive for its sweet flavor.

Yankee F1 Onion is a Long day, long-storing onion that proved its excellent DM resistance in our PNW trials. Very productive with storage qualities similar to Copra.

Abay F1 Pepper is the only hybrid organic yellow bell on the market that’s resistant to bacterial leaf spot. Boasting hefty 4” peppers on widely adapted plants, Abay serves as an excellent main crop variety for the climate of the PNW.

Triunfo F1 Pepper is the high quality hybrid jalapeño we’ve been waiting for. Robust plants produce bushels of near perfect fruit with minimal cracking. Intermediate resistance to tobacco etch virus.

Abundant Bloomsdale Spinach was developed through collaboration between Organic Seed Alliance and a team of organic farmers in the PNW including Marko Colby & Hanako Myers of Midori Farm on the Olympic Peninsula. Abundant Bloomsdale is an improved OP offering growers a vigorous, upright habit with large, deeply savoyed leaves and superb succulent texture in the mild conditions of the PNW.

Escalade F1 Spinach was a standout in our 2015 PNW trials, with excellent resistance to DM (races 1-14), luxuriant semi-savoyed texture and impressive tolerance of seasonal changes in light and temperature. Suitable for commercial baby leaf or full size production.

Damsel F1 Tomato finally delivers a late blight resistant hybrid with the flavor and color of an heirloom. Includes an impressive disease package, producing high yields and rounded fruits that will hold for several days at peak ripeness.
