JESUS Y LA LEY

En la continuación del Sermón de la Montaña, Jesús explica como él interpreta la Ley de Moisés. Jesús insiste que él ha venido a cumplir la ley no a

abolirla. Él repite la frase “Ustedes han escuchado que se dijo…” y contrastando dice “pero yo les digo…” No se conforma con d e n u n c i a r e l homic id io , l a

mentira o el adulterio. Él va al origen del homicidio: el odio, el resentimiento, el rencor. Jesús menciona la importancia de una vida casta. Él aclara en qué consiste el adulterio; mencionando cómo los varones utilizan la ley para hacer de la mujer una propiedad y deshacerse de ella y del vínculo del matrimonio. Sus palabras promueven la fidelidad mutua. Aquellos que lo escuchan y lo siguen cumplen la Ley en su totalidad y no solo unas partes, pues las consecuencias son claras y severas. Los niños están viendo y por su edad, ignorancia o circunstancia son vulnerables. Ellos dependen de las palabras y acciones de las personas maduras y sabías, a los niños no se les traiciona.

El siglo pasado en la década de los 70, un joven mexicano cruzaba el desierto fronterizo entre México y Estados Unidos. Un sacerdote lo encontró y se ofreció a cruzarlo en su camioneta a Estados Unidos. El sacerdote le dijo que si regresaba a su tierra lo estaría esperando en Santa Ana de Guadalupe, un pequeño rancho cerca de Jalostotitlán, en la región de Los Altos de Jalisco, México. Con el tiempo, el joven regresó a México y fue en busca de su buen samaritano. Preguntando por él, la gente del pueblo lo llevó a una capilla donde se sorprendió al ver la foto de su bienhechor en la tumba de santo Toribio Romo. Muchos inmigrantes que relatan lo mismo acerca de un sacerdote o buen samaritano que rescata indocumentados en el desierto, alimentándolos, llevándolos a Estados Unidos, incluso, diciéndoles dónde encontrar trabajo. En 1928, Toribio Romo fue asesinado a la edad de 28 años durante “La Cristiana (1926–1929). Este joven sacerdote murió a manos de un gobierno cruel que no sabia respetar los derechos humanos. Ahora como santo se dedica a ayudar a los pobres que sufren a causa de leyes inmigratorias que tampoco respetan los derechos humanos.
