Period 1 - First, I opened up a new page in photoshop and I traced, with the paintbrush in a medium grey, only the basic outline of my image. I decided that, instead of adding the extra details by tracing, that I would do them more freehand on a new layer, to make it seem more rugged and not too neat. A bit more 'sketchy', like most of Crabapples work. Then, on another layer, concentrated on perfecting some of the facial details. I drew in the details of the corners of both eyes, the lines on my lips, the creases of my nose etc. After that, I Added another layer and went over my hair's outline with a thicker brush. Period 2 - I drew in the pupils of my eyes using the original image for reference, using the brush tool. I also began to add individual hairs to my fringe and sketch out more on the sides of my head, and I even ended up covering my ear with my hair, which was realistic. I then added a layer of light grey shading under the eyes, on my cheek and neck's right hand side, beside my nose and underneath my pointing fingertip. I then felt it was appropriate to add in some colour, so I added a new layer and on that, started with the oxford shirt. I decided to stick with it's original shade of light blue. I coloured it within the correct margins, yet not filling them entirely, with the brush tool. I then made a layer for the jumper. I didn't feel that my jumper's original grey marl colour was appropriate for the style of the piece, so I decided to fill it with a far more bolder colour, Forest Green. I then filled in the collar with a lighter shade of green using the tool designed to grab colours and then tweaked up its brightness, filled the lips with pink and then dropped the opacity significantly and covered the pupils of my eyes with dark brown and a black center. I made sure that the bottom of the piece was not ruled off neatly and was rather scribbled out. I began to colour in my hair and eyebrows on another layer and I chose dark brown as I realised that black would change my overall likeness. I felt this was a good opportunity to add in some extra strands of wild hair with the brush tool. To give the piece an even messier look, using Long road's colours and a thick brush, I roughly marked out the College logo and marked out the shapes using the pencil tool and a shade of off white. Finally, I removed the white background I had been working on, created a new layer, set that as the background layer and using the paint bucket, filled the transparent canvas with a beige colour, to give the illustration a 'victorian edge', just like Crabapple's work has. Period 3 - On a new layer, I roughly jotted over all of my pre drawn outlines, not worrying if they flew out a bit and I didn't keep my pen on the tablet for literally, over half a second during the process. To create a more canny resemblance to Molly's work, I removed my previous colour fill of my jumper and started over with its colouring, this time leaving many spaces plain and experimenting with a variety of different brush strokes. I then emphasised the creases in my fingers, my jumper and even my shirt, whilst adding further shadings to my neck and right cheek. I did all of this using the pencil tool, as it creates the illusion that it was actually drawn in a sketchbook more. On a new layer, I felt it was best to mark out in more detail the wrinkles in my face. After then adding a grey shadow underneath the collar of my shirt using the brush tool, I added many random scribbles to my work, to increase an authentic look and texture. Finally, after observing a few more of Crabapple's sketches, I painted in a pink colour behind my head on a back layer and added dots of dark yellow, to make the paper seem older and more 'worn'.

Period 1 - First, I opened up a new page in photoshop and I traced, with the paintbrush in a medium grey, only the basic

outline of my image.

I also began to add individual hairs to my fringe and sketch out more on

the sides of my head, and I even ended up covering my ear with my hair, which was realistic.

I began to colour in my hair and eyebrows on another layer and I chose dark brown as I realised that black would change my overall likeness. I felt this was a good opportunity to add in some extra strands of wild hair with the brush tool.

To give the piece an even messier look, using Long road's colours and a thick brush, I roughly marked out the College logo and marked out the
