This exhibition includes the artwork of established, mid-career, and emerging Northwest Coast First Nations artists who have a deep respect for traditional practice yet are keenly aware of their relationship to history and their place in contemporary First Nations culture. Presented in conjunction with the East-West Center's Asia Pacific Dance Festival, this dance company from the Northwest Coast of British Columbia presents the rich history of masked dance in a compelling performance that celebrates the diversity and depth of the many beautiful First Nations cultures. GARY CLARK JR.Sunday, July 21, 7:00 pm, Castle Theater Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Gary Clark Jr. played small gigs throughout his teens —until he met promoter Clifford Antone. Soon he began to play with music icons in the Austin music community, including Jimmie Vaughan. Clark is best known for a fusion of blues, rock, and soul music, with elements of hip hop. A prolific live performer, he has shared the stage with Eric Clapton, B. B. King, and the Rolling Stones, among others.
