Being on time is so important for academic success! Learn to improve your reputation and your chances for academicsuccess withthesetips for beingrighton time--allthe time!

1. Rethink the meaning of "on time." People who are always on time are really people who arrive early every day--and acknowledge that things can go wrong to set them back several minutes. When things do "go wrong" these

studentsstillarriveontime!2. Understand the importance of being on time. Students who are always on time are the people who earn the best grades, winscholarships, andget intogreatcolleges. In theworking world, thepeople who are alwaysontime arethepeoplewhogetpromotions.

3. Get enough sleep. If you have trouble getting out of bed in the morning, then make a serious effort to get to bedearlier. Sufficient sleep is essential for maximum brain function anyway, so you really don't want to ignore thisaspectofyour scholastic habits.

4. Give yourself a realistic amount of time to dress and groom. You can do this with a simple exercise: Get up earlyone morning and time yourself (moving at a normal pace) to see how long it takes you to get ready. You may besurprised at the time it takes, especially if you find you have been trying to squeeze forty minutes worth of grooming intofifteen minuteseach morning.

5. Knowexactly whenyou need tobe atyourdestination andsubtract tenor fifteenminutes toestablish yourarrival

time.Thiswillgiveyoutimetogototherestroomorchatwithfriends.6. Set your clocks forward by ten minutes. This is a dirty little psychological trick that many people play onthemselves.Thefunny thing is, it reallyworks!

Winterwill soon beupon us.Wearealready experiencingcool mornings. We remind allparents tosendextra clothing as the winter winds will be picking up shortly and recesses can be very long whenchildren are not dressed appropriately. We also recommend that parents/guardians send extraclothing for children of the younger grades for those days when it is really wet and slushy. Playtimeoutside is important for the children and appropriate dress helps to make it a more enjoyable andhealthyexperience.

Pleasemakesureto ,especiallycoats,sweaters,hats,mitts/glovesasthesearetypicallytheitems that end up in our lost and found box. Our lost and found bins have been growing at a steady pace since thebeginningof theschool yearandwe are encouragingparentsto dropbyandlookatwhathasbeen left behind. We havelotsoftreasuresthatneedtoreturntoagoodhome!

We are trying our best to live as an and are, therefore, doing what we can to reduce the amount of paperand waste that we produce in the school. We are asking our students to continue to participate in our boomeranglunches and also we encourage parents to read our monthly newsletters on line. Your child's agenda will have a notewhen a newsletter has been posted, please regularly check our website. We have added some links and arecontinuouslyworking onimprovingthecontent.

Unclaimed items will be sent to a local charity after Nov. 18th.

AurevoirMmeLaszlo!

Parent volunteers are a valuable part of the school community and every year we have an opportunity torecognize one for exceptional commitment to assisting the school. On Thursday, October 20th

received her Volunteer of Distinction Award at a special ceremony held at Sinclair SecondarySchool. Storm was a vital member of F. M. Heard's volunteer group, always offering her support to staff andstudents. Storm is now a valued member of the Julie Payette support team and we are very thankful of her

assistancewithourmorningKissandRideprogram.

On behalf of the staff and community, a special thank you goes out to all of the parents whoalready have given up so much of their time and effort to organize and support events at ourschoolsuch as ….theQSPmagazine campaign, pizza days (including pizza count days), classroomvolunteers, and parent drivers. Merci!

Please make a thorough check of your child's head on a weekly basis to check for Head Lice.Watchfor itching behind the ears or in the nape of the neck. If you detectHeadLice, pleasecall

theschool.

On , students will be dismissed Bussed studentswill be pickedup bytheir respectivebusesonehour earlier. Pleasemake arrangementsfor yourchildren.

With an increasing awareness of healthy snacks in elementary schools, we recommend that students bringnon-sugar snacks for recess and lunch. Some suggestions for healthy snacks: yogourt cup or tube, cheesestring, wholegraincrackers, milk pudding cup, fruitorvegetable slicesand rice crackers.

November also marks a time of remembrance. Students who take part in Brownies,Guides, Sparks, Cubs, Scouts, Beavers and Cadets are invited to wear their uniform toschool that day. Their uniforms are symbolic of citizenship and service to others andare therefore most appropriate for the occasion. Poppies will be distributed to allstudents. Our students will commemorate the sacrifice of our soldiers in an assemblyonNovember11th.

Two Julie Payettestudents will also present a wreath at theWhitby Cenotaph on behalf ofourschoolcommunity.

Earlier this month, we had to say goodbye to Mme Laszlo, one of our primary release teachers. Mme Laszloaccepted a full time position as a primary teacher at Captain Michael VandenBos P.S. We were sorry toseeherleave but know that she has the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to support the students at CMV. We wishherwellandwehopethatwewillwelcomeherbacktoJPonedaysoon!

(RomanCatholicandAnglican)Since very early times, Catholics have had a practice of observing the anniversary of the death of a martyr for thefaith. As the numberof these martyrs grew, there was a fearthat some martyrs would be missed, and/or that some

would be honoured more than others. For this reason, theCatholicChurch instituted AllSaints day.

On this day, Muslims on Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) attend aservice on the hillside and plains near Mount Arafat. Hajjconcludes with Eid al Adha when those not traveling toMeccatakepart.

Muslims celebrate this festival in remembrance of Prophet Abraham's readiness to sacrifice of his son Ishmael to God.On Eid –al –Adha Muslims sacrifice domestic animals, like

sheep, and cows. This sacrifice of animals is made byMuslims to pay a tribute to Prophet Abraham, as he wasready to sacrifice his son, however, God gave him a Sheep tosacrifice instead. For more information: www.theeid.com

This day commemorates the life of Louis Riel, a Canadianpolitician, Métis leader, and a founder of the province of Manitoba. He envisioned a world that embraces all cultures.Riel was the leaderof two resistance movements against theCanadian government in an attempt to ensure Métisrightsthe Red River rebellion and the North-West rebellion.
