11 REASONS WHY LEAVING IS NOT ALWAYS

THE BEST OPTIONBy Ken Jensen

Multiple reasons NOT to bug out

There are many different reasons that you should not bug out if not absolutely necessary. Don't take bugging out lightly. It is a serious decision and should be given ample time, before hand, to consider it. Some items may seem basic, and others... not so much. But, just read through them and decide if you may need to stay home instead.

GEAR IS HEAVY, YOU CAN’T CARRY MUCHEven the strongest person alive can only carry so much gear in a bag.  Bug out bags are meant for temporary use.You will run out of food, and your gear weight will add up quickly.  Your home is the perfect place to be storing lots of emergency supplies, because IT HAS THE ROOM.

VEHICLES DON’T BREAK DOWN WHEN PARKED

Your Bug out vehicle is the best maintained car around, but today, you got stuck in traffic with your vehicle and trailer full of food.  You probably won’t have that food long.Bugging out by vehicle is a good first step when bugging out, but there is more of a chance that you will leave your vehicle stranded on road than there is of you making it all the way to your destination.

FIRST AID IS BEST IN A SECURE SHELTER

If you, somehow, break your ankle after Stink Hits the Fan (SHTF), you can either drag yourself into your home where it is cleaner and provides element protection, or you can be stuck out in the wilderness for days or weeks without the ability to move.Which one do you prefer???http://www.cleversurvivalist.com/whynotbugout

YOU ARE AN EASY TARGETWhen at home, you can take security measures and use the resources available to you to properly defend your property, which you are already familiar with. When you are bugging out, you probably don’t know what you are walking into.  If you decide to prudently perform reconnaissance, so you don’t run head first into a group of nasties, you will slow yourself down A LOT.

YOU CAN’T BE TRUSTED

If you come into my neighbourhood with your AR-15 or AK-47, personal armour, bug out bags, and night vision goggles I will quickly be placed on high alert.I don’t know you.  I don’t trust you or your intentions.  You wouldn’t trust me either if I came into your town.If you were my neighbour toting the same gear, I will trust you much more.

BEING HOT OR COLD SUCKS AND CAN KILL YOU

There is no thermostat outside.  Whatever the temperature is, you have to deal with it.In the cold you will have to bundle up.  If it rains or you sweat, you can get hypothermia or a bronchial infection. The hot will require you to take special precautions not to overheat yourself. All extreme temperatures dehydrate your body.

SLEEPING ON DIRT IS UNCOMFORTABLEAt home, you have a perfectly nice bed.  If not, you

have a couch.  If not, you have a carpeted floor.  You have nice, clean, flat or pillowed surfaces to keep you comfortable and well rested. When you bug out, you get to sleep on dirt… in fireants.  You get to hang in a hammock being eaten up by mosquitoes.  Your sleep will be crap. When you lose sleep, you get moody and your health deteriorates.

YOU HAVE COMMUNITIES AT YOUR DISPOSAL

All of your neighbours will most likely come together into some form of community with a single focus of either defending your neighbourhood, or overcoming disaster situations. If you leave into an area that you aren't trusted, you have lost your community.

WILDERNESS SURVIVAL SKILLS DON’T GROW ON TREES

If you don’t possess all of the necessary survival skills for wilderness survival, then who are you relying on?  These days, hardly anyone has skills to survive in the wild. What you do possess is the ability to maintain your property to a basic level of functionality.  Stay there if you can.

THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE IS TOO CROWDED

If you think you are going to head to the hills when SHTF, there are many people just like you.  Resources will be too scarce to share it with everyone else.  Preppers and non-preppers alike will be hunting and foraging. The rural roads would become a great place for others to steal everyone else’s supplies. If you don’t own the land, and it isn’t public, you will probably get shot by local land owners.http://www.cleversurvivalist.com/whynotbugout

AS YOU TRACK DOWN YOUR FOOD, IT WILL LEAVE

Right now, when survival doesn’t rely on it, finding game late in hunting seasons becomes difficult.  Once the wildlife picks up on the scents and movements of people and start connecting that with you being a threat, they are put on high alert to stay alive. As more people show up, eventually, whatever game was smart enough to live to this point, will be smart enough to leave.

SO, SHOULD YOU BUG IN, OR BUG OUT???

The decision is all yours.  I have spent much of the time telling you that you should consider bugging in instead. But there are times that you should bug out to get rid of obvious dangers to your life. When the time comes for you to make a choice to stay or go, hopefully, you have considered all of this beforehand, so you can secure your own home, or you can quickly get the heck out of dodge before anyone else.
