Happy New Year Dear Members,

Hope you all had a great Holiday season with your family and friends.

Nestled between the Arabian Sea and its backwaters, there is a place filled with coconut groves, clear days and sunny skies, and 85°F weather. This place is my home town called Kerala, India and where I spent the last two weeks of December!

Too bad it didn’t last long enough!

Regardless, I am glad to be back and get back to the routine. We have lined up great technical discussions and fun events for this year at SJ ASHRAE.

Our year begins with the technical session on Jan 11, 2016 about “2016 CA Mechanical Code Update” by Mr. Sargon Ishaya, our chair of Student Activities. His presentation will cover select changes in the CMC between 2013 and 2016 versions. We will also be highlighting Research Promotion and Zberri Alvi, Regional RP chair will be joining us for this meeting. This is an opportunity for our members to know how ASHRAE uses the generous RP donation that comes from you all.

January 24th, we will be having our 2nd annual YEA Brewery tour of Gordon Biersch Brewery in downtown San Jose. This event as a huge hit last year as we all walked away with a six pack! All young at heart engineers are welcome to register at sjashrae.org.

Look forward to seeing you all on Jan 11th, 2017 and in the coming year.

ACE Mentoring Roles Include:

Attendance and database manager: keep an up-to-date list of active mentees.

Parent and site consent forms: collect signed forms for the session and then for each site visit and then upload them for each student.

Weekly speaker: weekly speaker do a 15-30min talk on a subject, and then do an activity related to their field or to the students’ project.

Photographer: send photos and updates to the area manager so they can keep the social media updated.

Mentor: interact with students (5 month commitment)
