THE GUIDE POST
September 2015
IN THIS ISSUE
Dear San Jose ASHRAE Members and Friends,
Happy 50th Anniversary! I want to thank everyone for helping our chapter host a very successful Chapters Regional Conference (CRC) and 50th Anniversary Party. It was awesome to see so many Past Presidents and so much history from the last 50 years.
The 2015‐2016 ASHRAE society year is just getting started and we have a ton of momentum. Our planning meeting in July set the tune for another great year and the CRC helped train our new volunteers. I’m looking forward to working with our new chapter leadership, we have two new Board members and four new Committee Chairs. If you are interested in volunteering and getting more involved, please send me a note at [email protected].
Our new Chapter Transfer Technology Committee (CTTC) Chair, Bill Schoening, and President Elect, Jai Jayaraj, have been working hard to put together a fresh and informative technical program this year. Check out the Meetings and Events tab on our newly refreshed website at www.sanjoseashrae.org.
Our next General Chapter event is our society kick‐off event and September Social at the Mountain Winery on Sept. 22th at 5:30pm. I hope you see you all there.

What is Young Engineers in ASHRAE (YEA):
YEA is a committee in the American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) designed to focus on young engineering professionals.
ASHRAE members under the age of 35 are encouraged to participate in YEA. This committee is designed to inform and enhance the benefits available to young engineers at all society levels. Keep an eye out for YEA events in the San Jose Chapter.
The YEA website has been designed with to help breakdown the ASHRAE system in such a way that newer members can get involved. We have many resources available to you on this site to help you get the most out of ASHRAE and make it easy to participate. See below for an exciting opportunity for YEA members.
Leadership U
Have you ever wondered what ASHRAE Officers do at the ASHRAE Winter & Annual Conferences? Here is your chance to find out! Through Leadership U (offered by the YEA Institute), a handful of YEA members are selected for each conference to be matched up with Society Officers and participate in all of their events and board meetings, including social activities. Leadership U not only allows you to experience a conference like an Officer, but it is also a great opportunity to network and form connections with those active in ASHRAE.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2016 Winter Conference in Orlando.
The deadline for applications in Monday, October 12, 2015.
If you have any questions about Leadership U or the application process, please contact Rhiannon Masterson at [email protected] or 678-539-1178 or go to the ASHRAE website.
