110 YEARS STRONG
Connectivity
Influence
Engagement
I welcome you to the Australian British Chamber of Commerce.
We offer an extraordinary opportunity for business leaders to meet, develop commercial and governmental connections and to facilitate the expansion of their businesses.
The Chamber operates a domestic service in the major cities in Australia. It also provides an international focus with bilateral business catalysts on Infrastructure, Financial Services and Health held annually in the UK or Australia.
We provide a series of informative and relevant business functions to our members. More particularly, we provide the opportunity for business leaders to meet their peers and develop and expand their business relationships. This is vital for business leaders. Our offerings are tailored to our sponsors’ needs.
The relationship between Australia and the UK is significant. We share both history and culture; government, legal and financial institutions; language and sporting ties. We have shared security interests and a significant bilateral trade and investment history.
Bilateral trade stands at more than $29.1 billion, Australia’s fifth largest trading relationship. The United Kingdom is the second largest source of foreign investment in Australia, valued at $515.5 billion. The total Australian investment in the United Kingdom was $350.5 billion the second most important foreign investment destination.*
This relationship forms the basis of the Chamber’s business model.
We are confident that we will provide value to both you and your business.

WELCOME FROM THE CHAIRMAN
“The UK and Australia share an outlook, at a very basic level, on how an economy should be organised and governed. They share a perspective on the role – and the limits – of markets in setting prices and allocating
resources. They share a commitment to a world economy in which trade is free and capital, in general, is free to move.”

WHAT WE DOMARKETING
ADVOCACYThe Chamber takes an active interest in supporting our Members in their discussions with Government. Our wealth of connections to both Australian Government and the UK Government allows us to raise the profile
of issues affecting our Members.
PUBLIC POLICYThe Chamber holds the view that much of the public policy frameworks enjoyed in both Australia and in the
UK are intertwined. This stretches from the historical platform of the UK’s Westminster system and associated Rule of Law,
through to the current exchange on issues including Multinational Taxes, Smart Cities and the models of devolution being embraced in the UK, among many other frameworks.
We are a platform by which Members can add their input to this discussion with government and their agencies to produce improvements for the greater good.
FUTURE BILATERAL FREE TRADE AGREEMENTSince the referendum on the 23rd of June 2016, the Chamber has developed a strong platform and second
track in discussions on the implications of Brexit for the Australian British relationship.
We are strongly advocating the importance of securing the Australia-EU Free Trade Agreement.
AUSTRALIA-UK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE COLLABORATION In July 2018, we formalised a strategic collaboration with the Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce.

“BT has been a proud sponsor of the Australian British Chamber of Commerce for many years.
Our engagement with the Chamber goes beyond a simple sponsorship and forms a key part of our go to market strategy in Australia and in supporting our business growth.
The ABCC has provided us access to new potential customers and helped us to build key relationships through the wide variety of activities they run.
We have always found the ABCC team very proactive in looking for ways in which we can further leverage our participation.”
Tim Cavill, Former Managing Director Australasia, BT
“As a national and global business travel provider to the SME sector, we value our relationship with the ABCC. The opportunities for networking, as well as introductions to business leaders and decision makers from across
industries have delivered tangible benefits to our business.
Our team has developed a strong relationship with ABCC members and regularly attend their events. As a result, we have been able to leverage our partnership with the ABCC to successfully connect and nurture relationships with high profile business leaders.
The ABCC is a proactive, professional and approachable organisation, and our affiliation with them is highly regarded by the Corporate Traveller team.
Tom Walley, General Manager, Corporate Traveller Australia
“I have been involved with the British Chamber of Commerce here and overseas and I have found the ABCC to be a tremendous vehicle personally and for my leadership teams to connect with a varied and influential group of executives.
The ABCC has also proven a valuable partnership for Accenture, as we have worked with them to co-host joint events, amplify thought leadership and participate in discussions on important topics for our clients.”
Steve Willis, Fomer Senior Managing Director, Financial Services, Accenture Australia
TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR SPONSORS
“The Australian British Chamber of Commerce offers more than just networking opportunities—if you are part of a company with business interests in the UK it is almost a must to belong.
I have been a member for several years, previously when I was with Virgin Australia and in my current role as CEO, Travel and Aviation with global travel insurance provider, Cover-More Group.
Cover-More has expanding operations in the UK which we hope to grow significantly now that Cover-More is part of Zurich Insurance Group. I have no doubt that the opportunities that membership of the ABCC provides will help facilitate that growth.”
Judith Crompton, CEO Asia-Pacific, Cover-More Group
“As a British headquartered global company, Robert Walters’ principal sponsorship of the ABCC is strategically important to our business operations here in Australia. We have had a long relationship with the Chamber and draw much from the partnership including exposure to senior influencers in business and politics and access to a large membership base to share our service offering with. We have built strong and fruitful relationships with many individuals and businesses through our partnership with the Chamber. The quality of the events run by the Chamber, many of which we co-host, means we can efficiently entertain and engage many of our clients by drawing on the Chamber’s vast experience in tailoring and delivering world class events.”
Andrew Hanson, Managing Director – NSW, Robert Walters
